About this listen

Welcome to More Than a Merchant Mariner's Wife: Empowering merchant mariner partners to reconnect with themselves and unite with each other. This is a place where people whose partners are at sea can find support, connection, and empowerment. I help partners of merchant mariners navigate their unique lifestyle so they can feel supported and understood while thriving.

After living this crazy life as a daughter or wife of Merchant Mariners my whole life, I have some stories! I'm also a mom of 3 so if you’re looking for someone who understands the ins and outs of this lifestyle and the strength it takes to keep things afloat at home while your partner is at sea, I'm your girl! Have you ever been asked, “How do you do it?” or, “That must be so hard!” or “I wish MY partner went away like that!”? If so, you’re in the right place. We are going to explore the unique experiences and challenges that come with life as a mariner's wife or partner. I want to be your safe harbor, your friendly voice, a place where you can come for stories, insights, and hopefully helpful advice to help you weather the storms, joys and sometimes messy realities of separating and reuniting on a regular basis. Whether you're a seasoned mariner's partner or just starting this journey, you're welcome here. Let’s navigate these waters together. We are people first, we are warriors, we are "More Than a Merchant Mariner's Wife."

In today's episode, Jess Reid dives into the wisdom of aligning with Nature's rhythms to enhance your life. Learn how to sync your circadian rhythm with the Sun, your infradian rhythm (menstrual cycle) with the Moon, and incorporate grounding practices. Jess shares actionable insights on how embracing these natural cycles can bring balance, energy, and harmony to your daily life.

Jess Reid is a wild wellness coach, Spirit-led entrepreneur, and host of the Wild Wellness with Jess podcast, where she helps others come home to the wisdom of Nature and their Intuition to create a life they actually like. After a 50 lb. weight loss in 2013 started her on a relentless pursuit of meeting her own needs and creating a life she actually likes, she started her own coaching practice in 2017 to help others do the same. She loves to help others heal their relationship with food, body, money, and spirituality, and to receive abundance through understanding and using their spiritual gifts. Jess's favorite ways to help herself and her clients rewild are through nature, nutrition, intuition, entrepreneurship, and psychedelics. She lives in Virginia Beach with her husband and her elementary-aged daughter.

Happy 1 year Podcastaversary to me! I am so grateful for all the listeners support and interviews I've done and can't believe it's been a year already since the first published episode! In this episode, I reflect on the begining of the podcast but also the beginning of my mariner's partner journey as well as general skills and events that seemed so hard and now are second nature. Reflecting on ways you can continue to grow and push yourself out of your comfort zone into something that is hard now but will be second nature later. Keep listening for an update on what's ahead the rest of this year and when we plan to return with new episodes in 2025!

Shop small this year at https://shopsmallholiday.com/

I know Amazon is so easy and convenient and this year I'm trying to make an effort to find unique and caring gifts that also support small businesses. This is an awesome directory of 188 (and growing) small businesses that all have unique products and deals going on. Take a min and find that special gift for the hard to shop for person on your list or search for something you're dying to get someone...maybe it's here with a coupon and a personalized touch you don't get from the big box stores. Happy shopping!
