    This week’s free growth-mindset coaching: THE FLOW STATE.

    GROWTH MINDSET. In life, formulas exist to enable you to build on your current strengths and to discover new avenues for a more enriched existence.
    Mihaly Csikszentmihaly psychologist and founder of the flow state said “Flow is an optimal state of consciousness. We become so involved in an activity that the ego falls away. Every action, movement and thought falls inevitably from the previous one, your whole being is involved.”
    I have been fascinated by the flow state since I was young, I used to compete in senior school in the 400 and 1500 metres and ran for my local athletic club. The only memory I have about racing is that no one else was around me.

    In racing everything just settled into place, I don’t even think I was that good, it just felt free. At the time I didn’t realise that when I was running I was in the flow state, completely zoned, but I do remember the feeling and sometimes find myself in that place when I am writing Kathryn’s Corner.

    Highly successful people around the globe understand and leverage the concept that activation of the pineal gland especially in the flow state facilitates the actualisation of their desires. The flow state is an unpolluted focused mental disposition highly conducive to productivity. It is however something more than that, scientifically it has been related to manifesting through the pineal gland or the manifestation centre of the brain, this regulates the circadian rhythms, which in turn effects mental clarity and emotional balance, intuitive abilities.

    In clinical studies people assessed when in the flow state show to be functioning at an optimum physical level in terms of brain function and the firing of connectors, heart rate, respiration, and so on. Your body changes on a cellular level when you are in the flow state.

    Let's put it into practice:

    AWARENESS: Literally bringing your awareness into the brain brings about a feeling of centring oneself to begin the journey into the flow state. As in a meditation “being here now” moves you closer towards your goal and of what you’re wanting to create. Bring your awareness into the brain. Meet with your thoughts.

    ACKNOWLEDGE: Flow is fragile! Deep focus cannot be switched on like a light-bulb.

    APPRECIATION: Invite in gratitude for being fortunate enough to contemplate reaching the flow state, after all you’re not so strung out right now that you barely have the opportunity to enter a more peaceful zone, in gratitude you can find your HAPPY😊

    ACTION: Environment. Using sounds around you wherever you are will help. Visualise. See the end goal. Feel it too. This is intention setting. Time. Even if you have a time-frame or a deadline, put that to one side. Come back to the brain and meet your thoughts.

    Senses. You can use music. Aroma and breathing techniques. Find your ‘flow triggers’. One of mine is simply having my fingers on my keyboard.

    GROWTH MINDSET. In life, formulas exist to enable us to build on our current strengths and to discover new avenues for a more enriched existence.

    Oprah Winfrey said “Gratitude can transform any situation. It alters your vibration moving you from negative energy to positive. It’s the quickest, easiest way to effect change in your life”.

    Today’s subject for hope and inspiration is Gratitude.

    One of the core foundations of living a fulfilled life is the levelling up of you and everything within and around you.

    Gratitude is a key habit of successful people. It helps us focus on the positive aspects of life and build resilience.

    Research shows that practicing gratitude daily can enhance emotional wellbeing and reduce stress.

    Gratitude affirmations can improve your satisfaction of life even when you focus on the smallest simplest things.

    It gives emphasis to what is going right instead of what is showing up as resistance. Essentially, gratitude is the opposite of resistance; it is acceptance and receptivity.

    Successful individuals are known to incorporate gratitude routines for greater happiness and success.

    Some hints from me to help you begin your gratitude journey:
    Always remember there are a million possibilities and encourage yourself to believe in good outcomes.
    Look around at your environment and notice everything that’s good. Gift yourself the determination to move through tricky times knowing easier times are on their way soon.

    Here are the 4 A's of Gratitude Defined:

    Awareness. Consciously notice and recognise the positive things, achievements, blessings.

    Acknowledgment. The deliberate act of mentally or verbally recognizing things that deserve praise.

    Appreciation. The deeper emotional response that involves truly valuing and cherishing things that resonate within you.

    Action. The outward expression of gratitude through behaviours such as speaking affirmations out loud or repeating to yourself silently.

    GROWTH MINDSET - “THE INNER CRITIC”

    Quote: “The inner critic isn’t the enemy” Yong Kang Chan, Author of ‘Parent Yourself Again’.

    Nearing the end of the week, let’s explore the Inner Critic.

    The Inner Guidance System of YOU:
    Conscientious people, and especially high achievers, are those who have probably struggled with their “Inner critic”; thoughts or feelings of never quite being good enough.

    Psychologists often put the inner critic down to past conditioning, but modern evidence has emerged that the inner critic is intrinsically something more. Something that comes very much from within.

    Described as the moral compass and a self-monitoring mechanism, the inner critic can, when explored with a curious and open mind, be leveraged in forming adaptive advantages in your life.


    Let's now explore some insights in to your inner critic:

    Formulas exist to enable us to build on our current strengths and also to discover new avenues for a more enriched existence.

    Potential: It is tempting to think of your inner critic as an enemy that lives within your own skin, but the incentive is that your intuition ‘knows’ you’re destined for better things. Use the inner critic to your advantage to level up.

    Incentive: Your inner critic is powerfully for you. It is trying its best to protect you from missing out on ‘the good stuff’.

    Take time out to sit and listen to the voice in your head that’s whispering or shouting. Where is it leading to?

    External: You can, if you wish, allow external influences such as social media, people around you etc., to lead you to believe that you’re not good enough. You could be the source of other people’s jokes at your expense. Banter you’re the subject of, but not party to.

    Ultimately it is you who gets to decide your own boundaries.

    Self-Rule: Try treating your inner critic as your inner genius and see how you feel and recognise what you begin to think. Chances are, you will reach a place of compassion for yourself and a space where you’re actually much better than you accepted.
