About this listen

Self-worth is one of those things that impacts every aspect of your life – it impacts your relationships, your finances, your business or career – it impacts everything. If your self-worth is low, then you unconsciously feel you are not deserving of better – and therefore you cannot bring about what you want in your life. Ultimately self-worth is about how much you value yourself. In The Genius Code, I explain what is needed to build your self-worth, what the difference is between self-worth and self-esteem, and why one is more detrimental.

In the podcast episode “How To Build Your Self-Worth,” Paul Davis delves deeper into this concept. He emphasizes that self-worth is an internal measure of how we value ourselves, independent of external achievements or opinions. This intrinsic value influences our decisions, behaviors, and overall life satisfaction.

Davis distinguishes between self-worth and self-esteem. While self-esteem often relies on external validation and accomplishments, self-worth is about recognizing our inherent value. Relying solely on self-esteem can be detrimental, as it makes our sense of worth contingent on external factors, which can be unpredictable and fleeting.

To build self-worth, Davis suggests several strategies. First, practice self-compassion. Treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding as you would a close friend. Acknowledge your imperfections without harsh judgment.
