• Godly Conviction vs Shame-Lent Series

    2 Corinthians 7:10 says, “For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death.”

    Godly sorrow says:• “That wasn’t aligned.” • “I see what I did.” • “I want to change.” • “Lord, help me.” It is honest. It is humble. But it is hopeful. It pulls you toward God. Godly sorrow says: “I messed up.” Shame says: “I am a mess.” See the difference?

    What Shame Feels Like Shame says: • “You always do this.” • “You’ll never change.” • “Why even try?” • “You might as well quit.”

    Father, forgive me, I have partnered with shame and spoke harsh words over myself. I have exaggerated my failures and made my life about me. Help me to get over myself Jesus. Help me to have the conviction to stand in Your promises, the way You did in the wilderness Jesus. I have spoken identity statements over temporary behavior, Lord but I release this shame in Your Holy Name Lord. Teach me to receive correction without self-hatred Lord and help me to walk humbly with You leading the way. I want this season of Lent to be about You Lord and getting back to constant and continual connection with my Heavenly Father, show me how Lord. I need You in every moment of every day. Amen.


    Psalm 51:17 we read; “The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.”


    We can Practice Godly Sorrow:

    Here’s how:

    1. Name the behavior clearly.
    2. Take responsibility without exaggeration.
    3. Ask for help.
    4. Move forward immediately.

    Lord, I’ve missed the mark and I’m sorry. I take responsibility and I release the shame. Forgive me for false humility, cleanse my thinking. Strengthen my discipline. Let my sorrow produce change, not self-hatred. Thank You for Your mercy Father, I need it every day. Let me live with Holy Spirit conviction in all I do and say. I love You Lord, Amen.

  • Jesus in the Wilderness- The Private War for Obedience (Lent Series)

    Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written:

    “‘He will command his angels concerning you,
    and they will lift you up in their hands,
    so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’

    Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’ Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only. Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him." Matthew 4:1-11

    The wilderness tests three things:

    1. Appetite
    2. Identity
    3. Allegiance

    Appetite — will you obey hunger? Identity — do you know who you are without proving it? Allegiance — who do you bow to for relief? Lent is not about proving spiritual strength. You fast to remind your body: “You are not in charge.”

    Most Holy Father, thank You for the reminder of Your struggle in the wilderness. Thank You for the example You set. Give me the strength to live with the resurrection power Your word says I have. Help me to stay penetrated in the word, help me to live my life in constant prayer. Give me what I need Jesus. I ache to connect to You, to be more like You, to lay down my flesh and walk daily with You. Help me Jesus. I love You so much. Amen.

  • Fasting Beyond Food- What is Controlling You? Lent Series

    “You say, ‘I am allowed to do anything’ — but not everything is good for you. And even though I am allowed to do anything, I must not become a slave to anything.” 1 Corinthians 6:12

    Ask yourself:

    What feels hardest to surrender? What would make you slightly defensive if someone suggested you give it up? That may be your master.

    Reflection Questions:

    1. What do I instinctively reach for when I feel discomfort?

    2. What feels hardest to fast?

    3. What emotion am I most likely trying to numb?

    3-Day Devotional Guide:

    Day 1 – Discernment
    Read 1 Corinthians 6:12 slowly.
    Ask God to reveal what may be mastering you.

    Day 2 – Commitment
    Choose one specific thing to fast for three days.

    Day 3 – Replacement
    Every time you crave it, pray instead.
    Journal what emotions surface.

    Father, thank You for Holy conviction and how Your Spirit will speak to me this season. Show me what masters me Lord. I know I’ve leaned on it more than You, please forgive me. Break this chain in my life Lord. Give me the courage to surrender what controls me. Teach me that my only dependence is on You Father, I want to be mastered by You alone. Show me Lord, my heart is open. Heal my broken places Jesus. It’s in Your Name I ask, Amen.

  • The Sin We No Longer Call Sin

    “Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people.” Ephesians in 5:3

    Sin we justify: Social media. Overspending. Gluttony. Comparison. Pornography or lustful entertainment.

    Reflection Questions:

    1. What behavior have I softened with different language?

    2. Where have I felt conviction recently but ignored it?

    3. What sin feels “normal” in my life right now?

    3-Day Devotional Guide:

    Day 1 – Illumination
    Read Ephesians 5:1–14 slowly.
    Ask God to highlight anything that applies personally.

    Day 2 – Naming
    Write down specific sins plainly.
    Avoid vague language.

    Day 3 – Cleansing
    Pray Psalm 51 out loud.
    Sit quietly afterward and receive grace.

    Heavenly Father, I don’t want to live numb. If I have renamed sin to protect my comfort, forgive me Jesus, I want to give up all the things that are keeping me from living as You have called me to live. Restore sensitivity in my conscience Lord, help me call things what You call them. Help me to give up my flesh and my excuses, I am done letting the enemy lead my life. I want to walk in freedom with the Holy Spirit leading all my choices. Thank you for grace when I forget and the constant reminder that You are always with me. Lead me Jesus, thank You for the wilderness that teaches me so much about how You want me to live. It’s in Jesus’ Holy Name I pray, Amen.

  • Lent- What it IS & What it Isn't

    Joel 2: 12-13, “Return to me with all your heart, with fasting, weeping, and mourning. Don’t tear your clothing in your grief but tear your hearts instead.”

    Reflection Questions:

    1. Where have I drifted from intimacy with Jesus?

    2. What distraction consistently replaces prayer or silence?

    3. What feels uncomfortable about slowing down with God?

    3-Day Devotional Guide:

    Day 1 – Awareness
    Read Joel 2:12–13 slowly.
    Journal where drift may be forming.

    Day 2 – Honesty
    Write a private confession prayer — specific, not vague.

    Day 3 – Silence
    Spend 10 uninterrupted minutes with no phone, no music, no agenda.

    Most Holy Father, I don’t want to drift through another season spiritually numb. I feel far from you Lord and I know it’s because I put things in my life that distract me from You. Wake me up Lord, show me what You want for me as I lean into this season of Lent. I want to change my thoughts from ‘giving something up’ to being full of all I need. If I have replaced intimacy with You with comfort and distraction Lord, forgive me. I am here Lord, I ache to return to You, help me to get over myself and lay down my excuses. I don’t want to be legalistic Lord, I want true intimacy and connection with you. Tear my heart where it has hardened. Soften me again. In Jesus’ name, amen.

  • How to Fast- Lent Series

    “So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.” John 8:36

    We read Matthew 6: 16-18 last week, but I think it's an important reminder. “When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, 1so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”

    Hebrews 12:11 says “No discipline is pleasant at the time but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who are trained by it.” Oh how sweet the sound! Doesn’t that just sound amazing!? I crave that spiritual freedom, but food freedom, all the freedom! Don’t you? I imagine you do or you’d skip right by this episode!

    Fasting options:

    1. The standard fast- no food for a certain number of days. Yes to water and juice. Depending on the length of your fast you may add a clear broth.
    2. The Sun up to Sun down fast- You only eat after sundown, you pray at the other meal times.
    3. The Partial/Selective Fast- this is for people with a medical condition who want to do something, but can’t give up food completely. Fast sugar or starches, meat and dairy to name a few.

    Lord, I am excited to fast and get over myself! I know You will have to show up for me in a big way, but You do that anyway Lord. I am so grateful for the opportunity to connect with You this way Father. Show me how to get started and lead me when it gets tough. Thank You for the cross, thank You for loving me when I’m unlovable. Thank You Father for second chances and for the chains that will break in YOUR NAME during this Lent season. We give You all the glory! Forever and ever, AMEN!

  • Food Isn't Your Problem- Lent Series

    “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those who are crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18

    Matthew 6:16-18 says, “When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.     Notes: Kids should not fast. If you have a medical condition you should consult a doctor before even considering a food fast.

    If you can't food fast; social media, gossip, pop, coffee, games on your phone, gambling.

    When the craving hits, get on your knees and pray.

    Psalm 69:10 - When I wept and humbled my soul with fasting, it became my reproach.

    Ezra 8:23 - So we fasted and implored our God for this, and he listened to our entreaty.

    Acts 14:23 - And when they had appointed elders for them in every church, with prayer and fasting they committed them to the Lord in whom they had believed.

    Isaiah 58:6 - “Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?

    God, I am selfish. Forgive me. Forgive me for all the distractions that keep me from pursuing you and leaning into this part of Your word. You command me to fast Lord and I haven’t. But I want to. I know discipline is an area I struggle with, but I know that with You all things are possible. Create in me a clean heart O God, I ache to hear from You. Show me how to lean into this fast Jesus and help me break the chains that are holding me back from living out all You have for me. I may not be ready Lord, but I AM willing. I think about all You did for me on that cross and it fills me with unspeakable gratitude, let me never take it for granted Jesus. Let me do this because You love me, not so that You’ll love me. Teach me Jesus, my heart is open. Amen.

  • Your Body Doesn't Need Fixed, This Does

    “No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who are trained by it. Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees. Make level paths for your feet, so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.” Hebrews 12:11-12

    “This is what the Lord says: ‘Stop at the crossroads and look around. Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls.’” Jeremiah 6:16

    Fixing assumes something is broken. So when your approach sounds like:

    • “I need to fix my metabolism” “I need to fix my cravings”“I need to fix my body”

    Your nervous system hears danger because constant monitoring increases stress, especially when results seem so far off, which they always do at the start. Stress increases cortisol, the stress hormone and cortisol tells your body to conserve, protect, fight.

    Your body resists not because it’s stubborn, but because it’s being managed like a problem instead of cared for like a person.

    Healing happens when the body feels safe enough to let go, when we start to walk in obedience to the Holy Spirit.

    Don’t you WANT that?

    Don’t you crave that healing and peace?

    What’s keeping you from actually walking in His ways and trusting that surrender works?

    Do you think you know more than God?

    As you journal today ask yourself:

    • Where have I been trying to “fix” myself instead of obey and listen? What would change if I treated my body like an ally? Who could I become if I let God lead my weight loss journey?

    Lord, I’m tired of fighting and fixing. I am exhausted to be honest. I say I just want You to fix me, yet when You lead and guide me I don’t listen. Help me release the belief that my body is a problem to solve, I love her Lord, help me treat her as such. Thank You for this body Father, forgive me for trying to “fix” myself, I am not broken because You are in me Jesus. Teach me how to create safety in my body instead of pressure to conform to the world. I only want to obey You Lord. Please show me how. I love You so much and it’s in Your Name I pray, Amen.
