• Shame Masked as Anger
    Dec 31 2022

Life happens and it’s tough to be a person.

We're all trying to be compassionate to ourselves but sometimes you don't need to coddle your emotions. Instead of trying to hug and love each part of yourself, you can also let certain feelings be what they are. Express yourself!! Allow your emotions to emote! Anger is one of those emotions that loves to be loud and proud. Learning that shame was hiding behind my anger, gave me a huge breakthrough. In this episode, learn the difference between guilt and shame, what shame-rage is, and how shame disguises itself as anger. Shame is an asshole and we are DONE including it with ourselves.

  • How to Accept Life - Taoism
    Dec 18 2022

In our society we see passivity as laziness but they are in fact very different. Wu Wei is a concept within Taoism that means: "effective action through non-action" (effortless action or non-doing). Instead of forcing yourself to do things, or trying to be something that goes against your inner nature, you can allow the natural course of the universe to unfold and live in harmony. We get so caught up in trying to be the right way and do what were supposed to do yet, we still end up anxious, depressed, overwhelmed, and unhappy. In this episode, I do a quick discussion on the simple and beautiful teachings of Taoism and how they can help us feel at peace.

    P'u

This concept is represented as the “Uncarved Block” and is a significant principle of Taoism. Winnie the Pooh is the epitome of P'u because his simple-minded nature allows him to move through life and accomplish things without trying.

The book that helped me understand Taoism the best was The Tao of Pooh.

  • Releasing Anger
    Dec 8 2022

Anyone else been feeling like they need to just scream out some punk rock music or dance around a warehouse to get out some pent up energy? Thats how I've been feeling... so after I rocked out and got some of my frustrations out, I found that there was some really fun energy behind that anger!

A lot of us don't know what to do when we feel angry, we don't think we are allowed to feel that way, but anger is a totally okay thing to feel, everyone feels angry, its part of our emotions! In this episode I talk about how to release anger in a healthy way and to be curious about it so we can find out what's behind it. When we allow for this emotion to come out, we find a lot of clarity and feel motivated to take action about the things that fire us up.

  • Finding Meaning in Life... when you really dont feel like it
    Dec 2 2022

When we're going through depression a lot of us feel like "what is the point of life?" We suffer from finding meaning in our lives and this lack of motivation to live is really what gives depression its power.

In today's episode we are talking about how important it is to find meaning in every little moment in life. This all ties to LogoTherapy, a concept developed by Viktor Frankl. Its basic premise is that "we are driven by an inner desire to find purpose and meaning in life. It is a philosophy for the spiritually lost and an education for those who are confused."

Who knew that the solution to ease the weight we carry was simply having meaning in life?

  • How Depression and SAD can work For YOU
    Nov 26 2022

"Welcome to life. It’s a big boat with a lot of holes, but we’re all in it together." -Rick Sanchez

Tis the season of depression...also the season of lower motivation and inspiration... double yay :| During a seasonal shift, especially going into fall and winter, we can experience seasonal effective disorder or we just add it on top of our year round depression. But this episode is focusing on compassion, patience, understanding, and most of all softness. Instead of dreading these feelings we can be more gentle with ourselves, allowing for inner movement and rest.

Let's make it a season of spaciousness and softness-- it is totally okay to feel the way you are feeling :)

    Nov 18 2022

What is mental health? What is mental illness? What's a disorder or a disease? and What are the differences?

Our minds are something we allllll deal with and mental health issues do not discriminate. Our brain health is just as (if not more) important as any other health issue we deal with. So in this episode, I discuss the important differences between mental health and mental illness, how to self-care, and why having this knowledge is very important to becoming overall better humans.
