  • Why Celiac Disease Was the Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me
    Dec 24 2025

I know this title sounds bold. And if you’re newly diagnosed with celiac disease—or in a hard season with your health—this episode might not resonate yet. And that’s okay.

In this episode of Celiac Diaries, I’m sharing why, after living with celiac disease for many years, I can honestly say it was the best thing that ever happened to me—not because it’s easy, but because it forced me to learn how to truly take care of myself.

We talk about how celiac disease taught me to listen to my body, expand my understanding of health and nutrition, and think about wellness as something I’m responsible for long-term. I share how being strict with a gluten-free diet became an act of self-respect rather than deprivation, and how living with an autoimmune disease taught me discipline, self-advocacy, and accountability that now show up in every area of my life.

This episode is not about toxic positivity. You can do everything right and still get glutened—and that doesn’t mean you failed. We talk about control, anxiety, self-compassion, releasing perfection, and why consistency over time matters more than getting everything right.

    I also cover:

    • Why celiac forced me to stop people-pleasing and start setting boundaries

    • How navigating the healthcare system taught me to trust myself and keep learning

    • The emotional growth that comes from living with an invisible illness

    • News of the Week: A new bipartisan bill—the Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) Act—that could expand insurance coverage for nutrition therapy for people with celiac disease

This is just my personal experience—but my hope is that it helps you feel less alone, more empowered, and more confident advocating for your health.

  • Life With 50+ Food Allergies — The Mental, Emotional & Financial Reality (ft. Allergies With Mia)
    Dec 17 2025

This week on Celiac Diaries, I’m joined by food allergy advocate and creator Mia Silverman (@allergieswithmia), who lives with 50+ food allergies.

We get into the parts of food allergies that people don’t talk about enough — the anxiety, the financial burden, the mental load, and the constant need to advocate for yourself in situations like flying, traveling, and eating out.

    We also talk about:
    – The reality of traveling and flying with food allergies
    – The psychology behind food allergy anxiety
    – Studying psychology at Columbia
    – Mia’s delayed anaphylactic reaction to her Hazelnut food challenge
    – And yes… Mia’s surprisingly allergy-friendly Chipotle order

Whether you live with celiac, food allergies, or love someone who does — this conversation will change how you think about food, safety, and self-advocacy.
