Until 2013, the DSM actually prohibited diagnosing both autism and ADHD in the same person. That rule is gone, but the confusion remains. In this episode, we explain what AuDHD is from a clinical perspective: the prevalence data (38 to 70% of autistic individuals also have ADHD), how the two conditions create opposing internal forces, and why AuDHD is a clinical reality even though it is not a separate diagnosis in the DSM. We also discuss the difference between community identity language and clinical profile, and why both matter.
