Fáilte! Welcome! And bienvenue to episode four of A Wee Boost, a podcast from Dublin Fringe Festival and Project Arts Centre.
Each week we’re sharing conversations and inspiration from artists at home and abroad, in the hope of giving you a wee boost whenever you need one.
Two artists in search of a wee boost this episode are Dan Colley and Jetse Batelaan. Dan is a creative director and producer specialising in ensemble-devised theatre and theatre for young audiences. His adaptation for stage of A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings was nominated for two Irish Times Theatre Awards and four Dublin Fringe Awards, including 'Best Production'. Jetse Batelaan is artistic director of Theater Artemis. In 2019, he received the Silver Lion at the Venice Biennale and the ITI Prize 2020, an award for internationally effective, particularly outstanding young artists in theatre.
Our Postcard to the Edge was sent from director Ben Kidd of Dead Centre. Ben recorded his postcard as his young daughter slept next door which you’ll understand once you listen. He talked about his routine or lack thereof (see ‘young daughter’ above), Arnotts department store in Dublin and what he’s been inspired by lately.
And as always, our favourite sequin-clad alien siblings, Bourgeois & Maurice, provide our theme tune which is guaranteed to make you do a little shimmy.
See you next Monday for our final episode in this series.
Until then, keep making stuff happen!
Cian and Ruth.
