  • EP 5: Eleanor McEvoy, Tolu Makay and Mele Broomes
    Apr 3 2023

Alas, we have reached the final episode in this series of A Wee Boost. We hope it has given you some reassurance, inspiration and a pep in your creative step.

Our two guests in conversation this week are musician, performer and songwriter Eleanor McEvoy and artist Tolu Makay. They talked about working together recently, minding yourself and shared what’s giving them a wee boost at the moment.

In our Postcards to the Edge, our contributor is artist and director Mele Broomes. She shared what she’s working on at the moment, what a regular, irregular day looks like for her and she even gave us a little snippet of something she’s been working on recently at Cove Park.

And for the last time, big thanks to our favourite sequin-clad alien siblings, Bourgeois & Maurice, provide our theme tune which we hope made you do a little shimmy as you listened.

Chin up, keep making stuff happen and we’ll see you again soon.

    Cian and Ruth.

  • EP 4: Dan Colley, Jetse Batelaan and Ben Kidd
    Mar 20 2023

Fáilte! Welcome! And bienvenue to episode four of A Wee Boost, a podcast from Dublin Fringe Festival and Project Arts Centre.

Each week we’re sharing conversations and inspiration from artists at home and abroad, in the hope of giving you a wee boost whenever you need one.

Two artists in search of a wee boost this episode are Dan Colley and Jetse Batelaan. Dan is a creative director and producer specialising in ensemble-devised theatre and theatre for young audiences. His adaptation for stage of A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings was nominated for two Irish Times Theatre Awards and four Dublin Fringe Awards, including 'Best Production'. Jetse Batelaan is artistic director of Theater Artemis. In 2019, he received the Silver Lion at the Venice Biennale and the ITI Prize 2020, an award for internationally effective, particularly outstanding young artists in theatre.

Our Postcard to the Edge was sent from director Ben Kidd of Dead Centre. Ben recorded his postcard as his young daughter slept next door which you’ll understand once you listen. He talked about his routine or lack thereof (see ‘young daughter’ above), Arnotts department store in Dublin and what he’s been inspired by lately.

And as always, our favourite sequin-clad alien siblings, Bourgeois & Maurice, provide our theme tune which is guaranteed to make you do a little shimmy.

See you next Monday for our final episode in this series.

Until then, keep making stuff happen!

    Cian and Ruth.

    Mar 13 2023

Welcome to our third episode of A Wee Boost, a podcast from Dublin Fringe Festival and Project Arts Centre.

Each week we share conversations and inspiration from artists at home and abroad, in the hope of giving you a wee boost whenever you need one.

The two artists in search of a wee boost in this episode are writer and performer Stacey Gregg and New York based writer and performer Michael Breslin. In our bite sized Postcards to the Edge segment, we get an audio snapshot sent from Mexico City where Chilean director Pedro Sepúlveda is based currently.

Huge thanks to Bourgeois & Maurice who are the brilliant creators behind our catchy theme tune - guaranteed to have you singing ‘A Wee Boost…A Wee Boooost’ for the rest of your day.

Until next Monday, keep making art!

    Cian and Ruth.
