Editorial reviews

Brandon Sanderson’s brilliant second instalment in the epic fantasy series The Stormlight Archive, Words of Radiance, rivals anything dished up by other masters of the genre. In this thrilling audiobook, various factions vie for control of the magical Shard artefacts whose mysterious power is in great demand. As war looms on the horizon, aristocratic dynasties struggle for power. Available from Audible, Words of Radiance: The Stormlight Archive, Book 2 is narrated by the team of Kate Reading and Michael Kramer and is perfect for fans of Game of Thrones.

Publisher's Summary

Book two of the Stormlight Archive.

From the best-selling author who completed Robert Jordan's epic Wheel of Time series comes an original new creation that matches anything else in modern fantasy for epic scope, thrilling imagination, superb characters and sheer addictiveness. Return to a planet swept by apocalyptic storms, a world tipping into war as aristocratic families move to control the shard blades and shard plates, ancient artifacts from a past civilisation that can win wars.

As the world tips into a war for control of the mythical artifacts of power made from Shard, characters are swept up into new dangers which will threaten their integrity and their lives. Huge ideas-filled, world-spanning fantasy from a master of the genre.

loved it

loved every moment. improved on everything the first book began. While that one might have suffered from some slow pacing while it set things up, its all worth it since this book becomes one big pay off.

The epic continues in fine form!

It was an easy decision to pick up Book 2 in this series almost immediately after finishing the first - and I was not disappointed! The story continues to satisfy at every twist and turn, with the characters developing even more...to a point where you are heavily invested in them all - good and bad (whatever that is at this point!) It moved well in comparison to the first book though could sometimes forsake time explaining situations for the action of the actual situation. The performances of Kramer and Reading were once again phenomenal! Such perfect voices for reading a fantasy epic! Only complaint is that sometimes they would pronounce names differently which was a little off putting, and Reading changed the accents of some original Characters from the first book they didn't make sense to change (the slaver that originally traded Kaladin). Minor gripes among a stellar performance. Looking forward to Book 3!!!!

Micheal and Kate don't like each other.

Awesome listen but. I only gave it 4 stars because having to listen to completely different pronunciation of names by Michael and Kate really made me think they don't talk to each other. Granted it wasn't for the whole book but enough for me to write a review.

Can't wait for the 3rd Book

If you could sum up Words of Radiance in three words, what would they be?

An epic fantasy with intriguing story lines and plots. Worth listening to and reading (hardcopy or ebook) the actual book to get all the graphical illustrations.

outstanding read

for me, this book was very very enjoyable.

taking you through highs and lows, laugh and cry. amazing value and very glad it is such a comparatively long book to most other titles. I wish it was even longer or the next book in the series was due out already.

Fantastic

Great story and depth of character development, can't wait for book 3. One of the best narrators I've heard.
