About this listen

The next complainant brought us back our cabbages, which was one of our produce that father took pride in. He was already agitated before the vendor could say anything. And just like the tomatoes, the cabbages looked totally fine on the surface. The vendor took out one of them that was already cut in half, and father tried his best not to lash out in front of the vendor because of what he saw. There were maggots crawling from the stalk of the cabbage, and the inner leaves were incredibly pale that it was almost grayish white.

Father gave him back his money and apologized as well. When the complainant left the house, he ripped the cabbages apart to check all of them. Just like the tomatoes, the cabbages were all unacceptably pale and infested. A few hours later, the kales, potatoes, even the plums and the pineapples were all returned to our doorstep. Needless to say, father was furious. He felt that his crops were deliberately sabotaged, since he personally checked on them before he left the town just a week ago. I also remembered that he asked me to help out in with the distribution, but I stayed up late prior to that day and Edwin ended up doing everything. He wouldn’t have told me that if the harvest wasn’t good enough to sell. Something obviously went wrong. We drove to the farm immediately to figure out what might have happened.

Father kept on muttering and dropping names of people who might have a reason for destroying our harvest. I told him that he should not approach these people until he could have a good evidence to prove his assumption. Oddly enough, some of the individuals he mentioned were at the farm when we arrived. A small number of people were gathered across our field for some reason. They were the owners and farm settlers of the properties nearby. Most of them weren’t exactly in good terms with my father. I rushed towards them before he could say anything that might cause a bigger conflict.
