Yahtzee brings his sharp wit, blazing pace and massive nerdiness to full bore in this delightful space adventure.

This novel plays to it's strengths and leans into it's genre-ness. There's nothing ground-breaking in here, and this means Yahtzee is standing right beside you, arm around your shoulder and winking at you while you laugh along with him at tropes and cliches, all while both basking in the glow of a shared love for the familiar settings, characters and scenarios.

But while he's got you disarmed he doesn't miss the opportunity to slip in a few insights and enough fresh perspective to make this novel a worthwhile read beyond the pure fun factor.

This first novel in the series happily stands on it's two feet so if you want to disembark from the shuttle here you won't be left feeling incomplete. But I am certainly keen to turn around and jump back on board the next novel and let Yahtzee pilot me through another enjoyable few hours of escapism.

What you're getting is a light hearted space adventure. It's not heavy on the scientific technicalities of sci-fi, but instead focuses on the story, which is thoroughly enjoyable.

The narration is good, but not amazing. I think this book re-read by an expert voice actor would take the story to another level. I can definitely see this universe being adapted to film/cartoon.

Managed to be both hilarious yet still a gripping and at times surprising listen. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for an interesting story to pass the time

I’ve been a fan of Yahtzee’s gaming reviews for many years, yet had no idea he was an author. This was a fantastic book, with a well fleshed out world and unique characters. The main character was engaging, the villain menacing and the supporting cast all brilliant in their own ways.
Really glad I chose to listen to the audiobook as Yahtzee’s narration is top tier, and I couldn’t think of anyone better to lend their sarcastic English tones to this story (other than maybe Stephen Fry).

Good light entertainment. If you're looking for character development and deep introspection then you may be disappointed, but if you're looking for a bit of fun and some laugh out loud moments you should give Ben Croshaw a go. Don't be a div and listen to this plying audiobook.
