Story
With wars and natural disasters behind it, the Bandon survivor colony, just beginning to thrive in the wake of the apocalyptic worldwide blight, discovers an unidentified aircraft carrier anchored a hundred miles off the Oregon coast. After jamming the town's communications with the outside world, it is decided a mission must be sent to investigate the ship, and neutralize any threat. But what Eric Fletcher and others discover aboard the vessel is beyond anything they could have imagined. More than any danger they have faced so far, Fletch realizes that this enemy, with nothing to lose, threatens not only Bandon--but all who remain on the decimated planet. And whatever happens, after either a successful mission or a devastating failure, Bandon, and those who have called it home since the blight, will never be the same again.

Story
Eric "Fletch" Fletcher faces the impossibility of his friend Neil Moore sitting 10 feet from him in a dank cell. He's very much alive years after he'd watched him die. The explanation, validated by Neil's CIA past, is convincing enough for Fletch, but the man who has taken them prisoner wants more. Earl Perkins has dreams of power and has set his sights on the one place where resistance still flourishes. To conquer those who would stand in his way, he needs something he is certain either Fletch or Neil can provide: the secret location of a virus to be unleashed upon his adversaries.

Decent and improved
Storyline gotten a lot better since the first book. Narrator also improved. Not bad overall. Was skeptic moving on from the first book. But turned out better than I thought. Story is great. More plausible action with real results. I like that the main crew can't always dodge every bullet. Keeps you on the edge.

Lots of twists and turns
The author is a very talented writer and I was impressed with his use of analogies when describing situations. This book also had a lot of interesting challenges that faced Fletch and Neil as they traveled. It kept the story interesting and on the edge of your seat at times.

It only gets better
I started with the first book a few months ago and thought it was good, but was gonna be a forgetful novel. As I was searching for more EOW novels or post apocalyptic novels I saw that there were 2 more in the series. I gave the second one a listen and was pleasantly surprised how good, and original it was. Well, when I finished the 3rd one I was like "holy crap" this is surprisingly great!!! I can't wait for the next one!!!!!

Noah Mann Doesn't Understand the Army
My main issue is Angela would not be an officer without going to college. She would just be an enlisted member. Bother's me that writers overlook details like this. Had she told her story that she did a couple years, then went ROTC and came back, sure she could be a great officer. Other than this minor detail the story is a great spin on the end of the world concept. I listen to these for entertainment as well as what really could happen? Like Covid19, this one hit us out of the blue, preppers like me are, we tried to tell you something could happen. Anyways, great story and good narrator, I will keep listening. Maybe if the Author reads this he could give a bit of a back story how someone with out college became an officer. Maybe she got a battle field promotion during the early days? Just something to think about from an old combat vet.

Story great, narration not so much.
The story is among the best for this genre that I have read.
The narrator's voice, however, has a singsong tone affectation that is difficult to listen to. Over and over the same thing. High - low, high - low. The story is so good that sometimes I didn't notice. Other times it drove me nuts.
