Publisher's Summary

The space mission of a lifetime

An epic saga of America’s might-have-been, Voyage is a powerful, sweeping novel of how, if President Kennedy had lived, we could have sent a manned mission to Mars in the 1980s. Imaginatively created from the true lives and real events, Voyage returns to the geniuses of NASA and the excitement of the Saturn rocket and includes historical figures from Neil Armstrong to Ronald Reagan who are interwoven with unforgettable characters whose dreams mirror the promise of a young space program that held the world in thrall. There is: Dana, the Nazi camp survivor who achieves the dream of his hated masters; Gershon, the Vietnam fighter jock determined to be the first African American to land on another planet; and Natalie York, the brilliant geologist/astronaut who risks a career and love for the chance to run her fingers through the soil of another world.

Bit slow

For me very slow was more into it for Venus blowing up. And resulting story. But that’s reserved for book three it seems and book one and two just a slow political drama about space exploration. Didn’t make the Venus part unfortunately quit halfway through book two. Not for me will be good for others.

Loved it again

I read the book many years ago and have enjoyed listening to the book again.
Having finished it I went and listened to the lead up to the launch and then swapped back to the launch as that really brings the whole of what it must of been like for those select few who rode the Saturn out of our atmosphere

alt history

great storytelling. not to my tastes, I was after SciFi, this is alternative history not one bit of science was fictional even when this story was written. it is heavy on drama and political intrigue while light on the desires to push Boundaries in fact it's very anti space the whole book, I except this is because this is alt history with only the smallest of changes.

Intelligent and engaging.

A skillfully balanced blend of narrative and documentary, what was and what could have been.

I CAN'T STAND THIS READER'S VOICE.

I got three chapters in before giving up, due to the narrators inability to speak English.

He sounds like some useless Harvard native with a stilted voice and pretentious twang.

it's a bad enough premise for a story, but a badly performed one just makes it worse.

DON'T LET KENELY READ ANOTHER BOOK..... EVER.
