Overall the story is good, the performance is excellent but I kept getting distracted by the Dark Knight's presence. Ok, fine, it's not the Dark Knight/Batman but that's all I could hear whenever Cert/Sirt (however it is spelt) talked. I just kept picturing Batman in my mind whenever he spoke and it kept taking me out of the moment.

It's a simple enough tale, easy to follow I guess, except for that distraction for me. Hopefully I can get over it when I read/listen to the other books.

Mr. Boyett was as usual magnificent. His performance makes this book come alive. My only issue with this book is purely a personal one which may not bother anyone else. I am not fond of sci-fi books that have any connection to the present day and people of today. I don’t mind an initial connection but when the story comes back and revisits the present time in a significant manner, it just loses me from the story. Sorry for only four stars and I am sure for other people it would be five stars.

two great authors back for another amazing new series. really enjoyed the different approach to a story that comes from most military sci fi type books. paired with mark boyett and you cant go wrong.

Liked the characters except for one who was just plain annoying, actually had a bit of Mass Effect vibes running through it for me
