About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

This audiobook contains exclusive bonus content between Drs Chris and Xand van Tulleken, where they deep-dive into what you've just listened to at the end of each part.

An eye-opening investigation into the science, economics, history and production of ultra-processed food.

It's not you, it's the food.

We have entered a new 'age of eating' where most of our calories come from an entirely novel set of substances called Ultra-Processed Food, food which is industrially processed and designed and marketed to be addictive. But do we really know what it's doing to our bodies?

Join Chris in his travels through the world of food science and a UPF diet to discover what's really going on. Find out why exercise and willpower can't save us, and what UPF is really doing to our bodies, our health, our weight, and the planet (hint: nothing good).

For too long we've been told we just need to make different choices, when really we're living in a food environment that makes it nigh-on impossible. So this is a book about our rights. The right to know what we eat and what it does to our bodies and the right to good, affordable food.

Can't fault it. Very informative and enjoyable. I've struggled with obesity and binge eating all my life and spent a fortune trying to resolve my food addiction. This book is a life saver.

This is a very well written book which communicates complex ideas in a simple and easy to understand manner. The level of detail the author has included is very thorough but not overwhelming. I highly recommend listening to this book even if you're not intending on changing what you eat, you will learn something about the food you eat.

Makes me so sad how controlled my food is.. by corporations that don’t care about others.. just so much corruption. The baby food definitely got me sad. How do people value money over human life? How do they sleep at night? I will never know.

A fantastic book! Really informative and really interesting! Thank you SO MUCH for your truth and care of human life. Cant put a number on a heart that speaks truth and cares. Thank you.

Amazing and enlightening

I can’t recommend this book highly enough. It has changed the whole way I look at food and also the way I look at corporations. Really enlightening.
