Publisher's Summary

Forensic investigator Dustin Reed stopped believing in fairytale romance in high school. Ever since his best friends scared off his loser ex, he's been a chronically single scrawny geek, afraid of being used. Love blossoms around him, while his family wants him to get hitched to the right class of man. All he can seem to find is hookup app encounters, but Dustin wishes someone would sweep him off his feet for love, too.

After his tour of duty, now-forensic photographer Leo Sanderson is glad to be home. Behind his muscles lies a heart of gold, but school and his new job aren't resonating with him. Nobody has his back anymore, but he's fine on his own. He's never clicked with the women he's dated, but bumping into Dustin in a gay bar is making things fall into place...a little faster than he'd like.

Hooking up while avoiding labels isn't a bad idea: Leo's figuring himself out, Dustin's unwilling to hand over his heart, and they both work together. But Valentine's day is coming and they haven't been seeing anyone else. In fact, neither of them want to. Every fairytale has to start somewhere; why not the bedroom? Can they get past their insecurities and admit to each other and the world what they really want?

Great listening

Each is wanting to give the other one their heart but as co-workers and their own family drama and past threatens to unravel their relationship. However they work through their issues together and come out stronger for it. Leo is one of my favorite characters by this author. He's manly but such a sweetheart. He's the kind of guy who would give you his last dime of he thought it would help you whether you asked for it or not. I highly recommend narration was great and story was quite good

Dustin + Leo voiced by Greg = Perfection

This is the 4th book in the Significant Brothers series and it delivers, just as the prior 3 books in this series did. Our couple in this one is Significant Brother Dustin, a forensic investigator who works with Leo, a forensic photographer just back from a military tour of duty abroad. Dustin and Leo have a serendipitous encounter at a local gay bar and hook up, later discovering they work together. The working together piece is not the primary source of conflict, though. The biggest challenge for Dustin and Leo is that they get out of their own way.

Dustin is left with emotional scars from his user of an ex-boyfriend and has avoided any romantic attachment since. Leo is all alone and lonely. He’s acclimating to being back home but doesn’t have any friends here, and hasn’t had any luck in the love department either, past or present. Something about Dustin checks all of his boxes, though, and despite his never having been with a man before, Leo is all in … at least physically. Emotionally, it’s a bit more complicated.

As with our other SB couples, Dustin and Leo are multi-dimensional characters who work well together as a couple. I particularly like Leo’s maturity, open-mindedness and absolute commitment to his decisions once made. A highlight of this book is the expanded role of the Significant Brothers, and not in the way you would expect. It’s Leo who interacts with them more on page, and seeing how they take him readily into the fold and support his relationship with Dustin is heartwarming.

Greg Boudreaux’s narration, as per usual, is excellent. He embodies these characters with totally distinct voices and his vocalizing is words and emotion all packaged together so that we hear and feel the characters, not Mr. Boudreaux speaking the words the characters think and say. His cadence and pacing are just right, enabling him to achieve just the right delivery for every word he says. The tone is perfect and the audio as a whole is pristine. He’s so exceptional and yet natural that you almost forget how good he is, that is until you go listen to a different narrator. That usually reminds you fast what a professional narrator he is. I recommend you pick this one up along with the whole series for a terrific listen.

Totally addictive story!

Trace is totally awesome and addictive! It’s one of those I can’t stop for even a second audiobooks that has you loving every single word! Dustin and Leo are both fascinating characters that’s perfectly matched and I love how open Leo was from the very beginning and how perfect Dustin fit into his life! It’s beautifully written, hot as hell and definitely a wonderful feel good story that leaves you smiling! Oh and narrator Greg Boudreaux definitely does a fabulous job with the voices bringing all these amazing characters to life! Loved it!

Great to listen to for warm and fuzzy feelings

This entire series is full of the great kind of feel good romances. Listening to Trace gave me all the smiles and warm fuzzy feelings that make for an enjoyable way to spend some time. Plus the length is just the right amount to listen to. The narrator did a terrific job with this book and all of the characters were easy to distinguish which can be difficult in some single narration MM audiobooks.

Trace had an interesting sort of push-pull without being overly angsty that I appreciated. Both Leo and Dustin were likable characters that had to work through some past issues as well as present challenges brought on by working together. Leo was very mature in his attitude after serving in the military and even though he didn't have a clear handle on his life, he approached it head-on and falling for Dustin was lovely to watch unfold.

I think this is my favorite in the series (so far......still have two more to read) and I found the epilogue swoony and everything my romantic heart wanted to hear. I definitely recommend this Significant Brothers series!

Dustin and Leo

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Leo and Dustin's relationship unfolds so naturally. Each is a bit hesitant. Leo is new to everything about dating and relationships, so he takes his cues from Leo letting him set the pace. Dustin's been used and discarded by all his attempts at a one so he's a bit flustered from Leo's genuine interest. The only angst is from outside influences and they face it together, leaning on one another for support. The way the other brothers accept and rally around them is lovely.

Another adorable hit!

Nothing like getting straight to business, in the bedroom for the main couple. I adore Leo and Dustin. There is something about this series that I just laugh all the time and these boys were no different. It’s a fun series that has strong couples that fight together instead of with each other. Leo and Dustin don’t have it easy, but at the same time have a sweet time together. They both have relationship hang ups that keep their communication from being the best. They have to work on it and they do. They work together and don’t give up on each other when they need to be a couple the most.

I just adore the way E. Davies’ writes and worth every book I read I find myself loving his work more and more.

Greg Boudreaux does a fantastic job, and I just love him bringing this series to life. I could listen to him all the time!

Significant family

This set of books is absolutely amazing. I love found families and these guys rock. Dustin is the quiet geeky one and I so enjoyed his story. Leo the photographer fits right in! And the guys....sigh. Anyway I highly recommend these stories and Greg Boudreaux is a phenomenal narrator.

Sweet Story of Self-Discovery & First-Time Love

Trace" is a story of self-discovery for both MCs - Leo in his sexuality and transition from military to civilian life, and Dustin in his own self-worth and desire for a loving connection. With both lacking relationship experience, their sweet and sometimes awkward journey from random hookup to exclusive friends-with-benefits to loving boyfriends is not without some stumbles, particularly with navigating family expectations and encountering a homophobic co-worker, but it's all relatively low angst. This was an enjoyable story and easygoing listen, made all the more so by the engaging performance of narrator Greg Boudreaux. I received this free review copy audio book by request and have left this honest review voluntarily.

Characters who behave like adults

I loved this book by E. Davies because all the characters, but especially the two main, romantic characters behave like adults throughout the story. There is no false drama, no contrived plot devices, only two men who are finding themselves and as part of that, working on establishing a firm, healthy relationship. I loved it that they were connected by their jobs of forensic investigator and forensic photographer. Greg Boudreux's performance perfectly fits the story. He makes both men sound like the adults they are, while still making them and their relationshp hot, hot, hot. Another superb entry by this perfect combo of author and narrator/performer.

This romance was such a lovely, feel-good story

The Significant Brothers series is quickly becoming one of my go-to listens whenever I want something upbeat and low angst. Greg B's narration is always on-point with these books, and now that I'm 4 audios in I barely have to think about which voices belong to which characters. Leo and Dustin's story had the potential to be something grittier, since both men work for the police department, but much to my relief, the majority of this story revolved around their budding relationship and not anything gruesome. I loved how open and communicative Leo and Dustin were as they navigated the early stages of their hookups. I've read so many stories lately where poor communication ends up wrecking things, so it was very refreshing to see these men sharing their feelings with each other from the start. I thought the plot was well paced with the romantic developments in the story, and while no singular moment stood out as shocking or unexpected, I'll admit that I didn't see that twist with Dustin's family coming. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing how yet another Significant Brother got is happily ever after.

My favorite of the series so far.

Trace is the 4th book in the Significant Brothers series and it's my favorite so far. Trace is a bi-awakening story and I really enjoy those. Leo has recently returned from a tour of duty and he's still figuring himself out. Dustin hasn't had much luck with relationships.

I liked how Leo didn't runaway from Dustin when he starts to realize that he might have feelings for him. He's never wanted a guy before but there's something about Dustin that calls to him. Dustin is leery of getting involved with a straight guy but he can't seem to help himself with Leo.

This really was a sweet story with a few exceptions of some homophobic characters. I thought it was pretty low angst and I loved how easy it was to listen to. Greg Boudreaux always does a wonderful job and his performance of Trace is no exception.

I'm really looking forward to listening to the next book in this series.

A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.

best one yet!

I loved Dustin and Leo! such a refreshing story and approach to sexuality, with to practical thinkers. I loved Leo's approach and embracing of his realised sexuality. I could relate to Dustin's family situation and it's angered me that his parents couldn't just be happy for him. as these two were rather practical they "talked to each other" and most if the time quicky came around to saying what they wanted! so refreshing! I look forward to Tyler's story up next 😍

Another Great Episode, Boudreaux is Perfect!

What a wonderful series! I absolutely love the feel good nature of E. Davies books. I've read enough of their novels now that I can bank on it. Trace is book four in the Significant Brothers series but you can absolutely read them all as standalones.

The series is centered around a group of friends who bonded in high school. Each of the stories is unique, a different trope and very different characters, but the friends play a significant part in each others lives.

With audio performed by the marvelous Greg Boudreaux, what more do you need to end the day with a smile!

I'm really really loving this series!! I love it that in each book we have the great romance and the great friendships. The way those guys care for each other is so heartwarming! Leo's journey in this book touched my heart. I love reading books about people discovering their bisexuality later in life . An he was such a sweetheart, both him and Dustin. I loved it! I can't wait for the next one! And the narrator as always was fantastic!!

I read this book last year, now audio, great

Love this series and this book is just as good as the others.
Dustin is fed up being set up by his mother to the right sort of man, he's also been very unlucky in his grinder hook-ups. So meeting a random man in a bar, was he that lucky.

Leo had just finished his tour of duty and is a photographer. He ends up back in his home town, not knowing anyone anymore and went to a bar where he bumped into Dustin. Always interested but never found the right woman, so when Dustin started talking to him, he thought why not and started talking. An HEA.
Greg does an excellent job narrating this book.

This is a lovely book, as is the whole significant brothers series, they are so much fun.

Fluffy feel good fun!

This series just continues to completely kill it! It’s the perfect amount of fluffy fun with always just a dash of conflict, enough to keep you interested, but not enough to add any unnecessary angst. Dustin and Leo were just so perfect together. They went through so much personal growth and exploration on their journey to love and I just incredibly enjoyed being along for the ride.
