By the year 2032, the US federal debt has surpassed $50 trillion. The American empire is on the verge of collapse.

An entrepreneur named Kade Kapur has an idea for rescuing the debt-ridden United States: The government will issue stock in a company with exclusive mining rights to an asteroid whose orbit will soon bring it near Earth. I was a really big fan of some of Kroese's other work, and I don't mind politics in books, I don't even mind political opinions being voiced through the story but GOD he would NOT SHUT UP. I got about three or four chapters in and so far it'd been more whining about the government preying on the poor delicate billionaire than actual story. Every other sentence someone shoehorns in some statement about regulations being bad and government intervention being evil and blah blah blah.

Yes, I get that this is a political thriller, but a good political thriller inserts the politics between the story, not instead of one.

Reads more like a bad civics textbook.
