Publisher's Summary

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Kerri Maniscalco, Throne of the Fallen is Bridgerton set in the courts of Hell: a romantic venture within her Kingdom of the Wicked world, perfect for fans of fantasy, romance, and mystery alike.

With the curse broken, the Prince of Envy is finally free to get his revenge. His scheme requires the assistance of Camilla Antonius, a talented gallery owner and artist. Camilla's skills are needed to help him access a stolen memory Envy believes was painted into an illuminated manuscript that his spies claim is currently being housed in a goddess-run temple on the Shifting Isles.

Camilla's knowledge of art history makes her the best choice for the job, but-despite his allure and how intrigued she is by him-Camilla wants nothing to do with the demon prince, or the Seven Circles after seeing the chaos that follows them. Envy has been plotting for ages and came prepared. He reveals he purchased her father's debts and her assistance is the price he's asking for to clear them. If Camilla refuses to help, he vows to ruin her family, take her gallery, and turn them out on the streets.

Backed into a corner, Camilla is forced to accept the devil's bargain and they soon embark on a journey that may be as dangerous for their hearts as it is for their world.

Great story and well narrated

I enjoyed this - story was interesting and kept me captivated and good twists throughout. However, it was v spicy 🌶️ I’m no prude! Perhaps a bit too much for me… but nothing that deterred me to stop reading.

First time reading this author so maybe it’s her style.

All the sinfully Wicked stars

Throne of the Fallen audiobook by Kerri Maniscalco performed by my favourite Brit, the legendary Shane East and new to me and incredible Marissa, Carlin.
I really loved this book. I listen to it twice, that's how much I loved it and he is a thick one: over 600 pages with nearly 19 hours of audio deliciousness.

This was my very first venture into the world of Kerri Maniscalco and it won’t be my last.
I will be going back and listening to the rest of the books in her Kingdom of The Wicked series.
This is book one of her Princes of Sin series - it's a spicy fantasy romance, with Bridgerton set in the Courts of the Kingdom of Hell vibes and I devoured it.

This is a slow burn, which is what you can expect from fantasy romance, enemies to lovers, force proximity, only one bed, she's my property, touch her and die vibes. He's a possessive anti-hero and she's a strong sassy heroine who's also very possessive.

This story will have you hooked from the very first: check out the dedication:
“For those who can’t help falling for the villain and love a sinfully wicked fairy tale, this one is for you.”
Then there’s this little dedication:

Gentlemen of virtue are not nearly as nice
As the wickedly sinful men of vice. Poems for the Wicked, Volume One.

Followed by Marisa beautifully narrating the following 'Foreword':
"Unbeknownst to Camilla, or anyone in the Green, a curse in that devious realm recently broke, setting one sinfully handsome prince free. Unlike in a fairy tale, the prince who’s now coming for Camilla isn’t at all charming. But like all storybook villains, if Camilla isn’t careful, this dark prince just might end up capturing her heart. Unless she succeeds in the impossible and steals his wicked one first . . . "
So by the time I heard Shane utter the following words in the prologue:
“Gods dammed Fae b*st*rd!” I knew I was already invest in this amazing story.
Prince Envy is a Demon of the Seven Circles of Hell, a shadowy nether region full of vice where together with his six other brothers, rule over the seven deadly courts of hell.
Envy must enter the game to break the curse that is threatening to destroy his kingdom. To do so, he needs to locate a very talented painter, but not any painter.

Enter Camilla Antonius from Waverley Green a small city similar to regency London. Camila already made a mistake with Lord Vexley and doesn’t want to repeat it. She manages to reluctantly enter into a deal with Envy and so the games begin.

I’ll start by talking about Prince Envy. He is the c*cky alpha hole, anti-hero/villain and of course I love them. I have said this before, but Shane and fantasy are synonymous. I know this is an impossible dream, but can we just have Shane narrate all of them and be done with it, he was born for fantasy, especially ones like this with regency/historical vibes.
The humour, the growls, the whispers, the banter and the smoulder: (yes it's thing, and you can hear it): I absolutely devoured all of it - every delicious crumb!
You will melt into a puddle every time Shane says: "Camilla Darling."

Speaking of Camilla. She’s definitely not some damsel in distress, and you also suspect there’s something a lot more to her -- there's a deeper backstory. Marisa was perfectly cast as Camilla and I really loved her narration and the performance in this and I'm excited to listen to more of her performances particularly in this series.

Both Shane and Marissa definitely brought the heat, the emotion and the spice to their performance. The chemistry between Envy, and Camilla was off the charts. They stoked those flames so well, and Shane and Marissa executed their performances perfectly.

There are so many plot twists here you won’t see coming and I loved every twisty minute of it.
It blew my mind.

I loved the way Envy would stoke Camilla's jealousy, and she too would return serve. It worked out well for Envy, who gained power and strength. He had one rule, and would't break it for anyone, and I loved how Camilla made him constantly question his rule.
The tension between Envy and Camilla was done so well: massive kudos to Kerri Maniscalco - I have fallen in love with her writing - she gripped me from the very first page and I'm so beyond grateful she cast my favourite Brit because he was the perfect Envy and Marisa was the perfect Camilla

I love this book I didn’t want it to end.

I can’t wait for Throne of Secrets, which is Book 2 to in this series. It’s Prince Gluttony's story and I’m crossing everything that the audio gods will re-cast Marisa and Shane again because this series was written for them: they were absolutely brilliant in both the performance and the narration!
You don’t have to take my word for it: Go and have a listen yourself.
You will thank me later (in the words of Envy himself)"my filthy darlings"

Entertaining and Sinful

The story is so well written and entertaining. I enjoyed every minute. Audio is Dual narration which sometimes bothers me but the narrators were on point so it was very easy to listen to. Definitely recommend and look forward to the rest of the series.

Rolled my eyes too many times for it to be enjoyable

I get that this book is mostly smut - and I’m fine with smut.. but when you’re using smut as plot filler it just gets boring- especially when you’re essentially repeating the same thing in every chapter.
