Publisher's Summary
Bearded, bad-boy barber Knox prefers to live his life the way he takes his coffee: Alone. Unless you count his basset hound, Waylon.
Knox doesn’t tolerate drama, even when it comes in the form of a stranded, runaway bride.
Naomi wasn’t just running away from her wedding. She was riding to the rescue of her estranged twin, to Knockemout, Virginia, a rough-around-the-edges town where disputes are settled the old-fashioned way....With fists and beer. Usually in that order.
Too bad for Naomi, her evil twin hasn’t changed at all. After helping herself to Naomi’s car and cash, Tina leaves her with something unexpected. The niece Naomi didn’t know she had. Now, she’s stuck in town with no car, no job, no plan, and no home - with an 11-year-old going on 30 to take care of.
There’s a reason Knox doesn’t do complications, or high-maintenance women, especially not the romantic ones. But, since Naomi’s life imploded right in front of him, the least he can do is help her out of her jam. And just as soon as she stops getting into new trouble, he can leave her alone, and get back to his peaceful, solitary life.
At least, that’s the plan, until the trouble turns to real danger.

A fantastically funny small-town romance
This book has got it ALL:
- Small-town romance with the best supporting characters.
- Dual perspectives
- Single mum/unexpected guardian
- Grumpy/sunshine
- A dash of forced proximity and workplace romance as she works at his bar and lives next door.
- Another dash of romantic suspense to keep things interesting.
- Amazing banter, as is the Lucy Score way!
- Cute nicknames a.k.a Daisy 🫠
- Fantastic narration by both Lila Winters and Sebastian York.

Lucy Score scores again!
As usual, Lucy Score delivers another great story. And narrators Lila Winters and Sebastian York bring the story to life with their excellent narration. When you decide to start this book carve out lots of time to listen. I had intended to savour it over a number of days... nope, totally binged it!

Wow
Oh my gosh. This story was amazing. I just loved it all, from the man who thought he couldn’t love, to the women that just wanted to please everyone but herself. Her twin sister left her with her daughter to raise in a weird twist. To all the great family and friends, and a great community. I found it funny at times and heartbreaking at other times. Truly a great read.
Narration was awesome too.

A new author for me…
…and an entertaining, vey well narrated story. So impressed, I’ve invested in the Riley Thorn series as my next listen. Thanks for getting me out of my reading slump, Lucy.

Great storyline
Loved this read, witty and had me smirking a great deal. Intriguing story that wasn’t just romance.

Enjoyed more than I wanted to!
I went into this book with not very high expectations. And as with most books of this genre I've read it didn't hook me straight away. But I found that I actually really loved the characters and, despite it being a little predictable at times, the story too. I found myself very happy for the main character by the end and realised I was way more invested then I would have thought. This will definitely be one that I listen to more than once!
oh and, the narrators were good too, however when the male narrator was doing any of the womens' voices I thought it sounded like the voice of Hiccup from How to Train Your Dragon haha!

Whole package.
This story had everything. A Viking main character with his tough & rough edges, the sweet romance brewing between him and the new girl in town. The quirky tight knit town added into it. Loved their story and setting.

Sweet & funny
Love the characters and their humour. The performances of the readers were great. I appreciated the bonus epilogue, which allowed a nice finality to the storyline and the characters.
