A different type of story to this wonderful authors normal stories... it was ok but much prefer Rachel's farming community stories and in depth characters much more
Certainly missed CW's wonderful narration and voice too on this one. . Found the narators voice squeakily annoying.

I found this book a bit predictable and the big 'twist' an overdone trope. I actually tried to return it after the first couple of chapters because I wasn't enjoying the story or the narration, but wasn't able to for some reason so I persevered. Definitely not my favourite recent read.

Loved this book! I finished it days ago (audio this time as I was talking forever to read it so audio in the car when ever I was driving).. but it’s been days and I miss the characters.. I keep going to listen to more only I have to remind myself I finished it! That’s a sign of a great book!

Fantastic as usual

Not really my type of story but I lasted the distance. I found it somewhere between mundane and far fetched. I wasn’t a fan of the narrators high pitched voices, but it was read well. I went for the entire ride, but was looking forward to the end.

Hated that the “twist” perpetuates the patriarchal “good guy” vs “monster” dichotomy. Monsters can be charming and the men we least expect.

I always love all of Rachael’s books but I especially liked this one. Clever twists and plots proved my predictions wrong and kept me guessing throughout.
