The wallflower is the first book in the Oakmount Elite series, it’s a duet following Maybel & Andrew (bel & drew) it’s a dark spicy collage romance ending on a CLIFFHANGER.

oookay i wasn’t expecting to enjoy this as much as i did!? I am a sucker for a morally grey mmc and drew was perfection. Drew comes from a wealthy family and is the football team’s star quarterback, he’s completely arrogant, obsessed and won’t stop at nothing till he gets what he wants. Maybel a scholarship student from a poor family so so so socially awkward and tried to stay in the background away from all the crazy at oakmount trying her best at helping her sick mom and trying to get enough money for hospital bills.

This was just SO twisty, angtsy and genuinely so many things were happening, and the CLIFFHANGER oh my gosh. I did find the first half very back and fourth and it just jeot on dragging but towards the end is what really got me hooked. The cliffy was just so not what i expected.

I got a feel of the story line quite early on but factors like the characters, different scene elements not to mention the spicy scenes Drew me in even more (pun intended haha). I found myself getting excited when I got free time because I knew I’d be able to sit and really immerse myself into the story uninterrupted. I felt all the feels for this one, the highs and the lows. The plot twist at the end was the icing on the cake, looking forward to Book 2!

Really enjoyed the story! But I think I’ll read the rest as opposed to listening to the audiobooks. While I enjoy listening to this narrator, she just didn’t quite fit the role of Maybel—or at least, the tone and voice used for Bels parts. The voice used for Bel is very mature and in sections I imagine Bel would be speaking quietly, in a shy and uncertain tone, the narrator is forceful and a sassy/bold. But hot damn, her range of voices for the different characters is incredible.

Wallflower is one of my favourite obsessive stalker romances and the audiobook absolutely delivers.

Bel enters a secret event called The Hunt to win prize money for her sick mother. Survive the chase, reach the cabin, win the cash. Simple in theory. Until Drew decides she is his.

Drew is rich, damaged, completely unhinged and honestly a top tier dark romance psycho hero. Total asshat. Totally addictive.
The duet narration by Rene Thorn and Ryan Stone is fantastic. Their chemistry makes the push and pull between Bel and Drew feel electric and dangerously intimate which works perfectly for this kind of story.

It is intense, twisted, spicy and packed with secrets, trauma and obsession. Also Drew’s father deserves a one way ticket to hell.
Fair warning this ends on a brutal cliffhanger that had me ready to dive straight into the next book.

If you love dark romance with obsessive heroes, primal chase vibes and addictive narration this one is a wild ride. 🎧📚
