Publisher's Summary

The magic flames are raging. Blades are melting. Souls are reduced to ashes in the fury of battle. The grand finale of the war for the First Temple is upon us. The last trump cards have been played, the reserves are all exhausted, and even the gods have engaged in the plebeian fight. The universe is on the point of collapse. Broken are the chains that held the worlds together. The icy waters of the Baltic cool the scorching sands of the Frontier. The creatures of AlterWorld spill the first blood on the quiet streets of Earth's cities. What is Max to do? Become embittered and butcher his enemies? Seize the deserted castles and abandoned lands? Attempt to save the one who had given her life for him? Or try to win the jackpot by finding a way home, back to Earth?

What a let down

Loved this series but the ending is terrible. It was rushed and left me feeling disappointed.

I guess it's over?

I'm glad I got some sort of closure to the series but in my opinion this boom felt extremely rushed. I mean, previous books managed to go on for pages just explaining loot management. this one took a gigantic amount of unresolved plot and tied it up in the messiest bow I've ever seen. worth a read but don't expect too much.

Need more

Loved the series, but not a fan of the abrupt and what seemed like rushed ending.

Expected Ending

this is probably the worst book in the series. Its not exactly bad, it just doesn't have the pizzaz that the rest of the series does.

That's it?

I hate endings like this. It felt so rushed with so many questions unanswered. The final fight is something I wouldn't even call a fight. Seemed almost like d. Rus didn't know of how to end it and settled with whatever.

So much for character development.

The last couple of books our main character was getting more and more sexist. He flat out doubles down on it a few times in this one and sadly that's the closest to character growth that we get. I know litRPG books tend to some heavy Mary Sue writing but this one goes all the way. We hear repeatedly how tall and broad and intimidating our main character is and there's never a moment where you feel anything major might really go wrong. The ending is just... Lazy and feeds even more into it.

I was a big fan.

I was living the series but it got kind of weird and I just lost interest half way through and never finished it, not going to return it because I might give it another try when the next book comes out but for now I'm sad that the book is losing my interest.

Too much modern warfare.

I started this series because I was interested in the concept of getting sucked into a fantasy series. By the end there are tanks and guns and nukes. I very specifically don't tear those types of books because they hit too close to home. Of the seven books in the series, this was absolutely my least favorite. 80% of the novel didn't even take place on Alterworld. If the performance wasn't as good, I would have given the whole thing 1 stars. If I hadn't already invested myself into 6 books and pushing 50 hours of said story, I wouldn't have finished this book. The ending was exceptionally rushed and lackluster. Zero resolution. SO MANY plot threads left unresolved. This is even better at The Chris Carter effect than Chris Carter was with his own body of work (X-Files, specifically).

Not as happy withy it as others

I really didn't find the story very good. I know time traveling is hard to do, but I just found too many inconsistencies to be like it. The characters are quite shallow as well.

The only reason I read all three was that I bought the audio book version and didn't have anything else.

I really enjoyed the audio book.

I really enjoyed the audio book. A new spin on magic and the way the system works.. I highly recommended the book. I hope the author is a fast writer...
