Publisher's Summary

"A thrilling, pulse-pounding addition to the genre with compelling science and a frightening twist." (Nicholas Sansbury Smith, NY Times and USA Today best-selling author of the Extinction Cycle and Hell Divers series)

This audiobook contains the first four audiobooks of the Tide series, filled with post-apocalyptic action, suspense, and intrigue.

A devastating bioweapon will change the face and fate of humanity as we know it.

Captain Dominic Holland leads a crew of skilled covert operatives and scientific personnel aboard a clandestine ship dedicated to fighting chemical and biological warfare. Their missions have taken them across the world to combat sinister plots and dangerous adversaries. But their next assignment is more dangerous than any they faced before.

Far off the Eastern Coast of the US, intelligence officers discover a covert laboratory on an abandoned oil rig with unspeakable horrors. Twisted creatures wash ashore across the country. Hospitals are overrun by patients suffering from an incurable disease with terrifying symptoms.

Dom and his team may be the only ones equipped to find out why. They embark on a globe-trotting race to unravel the apocalyptic mystery behind the bioweapon destroying civilization.

But will their efforts be enough to turn the tide - or is humanity’s fate already sealed?

This Author is just exhausting!

I am up to book 3 now but I can’t listen to any more of this story, it’s just WAY too exhausting. I have persevered to book 3 but it’s actually getting worse as the books progress. Is it well written? Yes it is BUT you are not allowed any reprieve from the constant drama! The pedal is to metal ALL the time and if anything can possibly go wrong for the main characters, it will. They are seriously the unluckiest people EVER and quite frankly, it’s just exhausting.
This author could be fantastic if he learned balance in his story telling. Have a bit of down time to develop your characters & their relationships and let your readers catch their breath between battles. You don’t even allow your characters to sleep before they are engaged in the next 10 battles! Seriously, what humans could maintain that ridiculous pace??? You need to strive for balance. Less is definitely more for this Author.

Crazy Ride

Almost didn't download after reading a review that described it as exhausting. Yep, it is, but that makes it a rollercoaster of fun. Probably dont read this type of book for a slow end to the world. It's not sophisticated but on a long drive I like something keeps me engaged and awake. You find yourself rooting for the characters and keeping pace with them probably wish you had a little more cardio time under your belt. Thoroughly enjoyed it. There's something a little annoying about the narrator at first. Cant put my finger on it but not so much to put me off. Just have fun with it, good apocalyptic fun :) Looking forward to Book 5 this Friday.

Best in genre yet!

Wow! This book defines "Nitty Gritty". A roller coaster ride that just doesn't stop. Realistic characters that gave their all. I completely give my recommendation for this book in the genre's Horror and Post-Apocalyptic. Now for the obligatory: "I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."

good book

good series the first book is the best. the only issue I have is the video game feel as the creatures become mutated. I am not a fan of the mutation but well written and worth a credit for the 4 pack of books to see if you dig the story.

A diffrtent kind of zombie.

I listened to all 4 books consecutively. I kept thinking I'd go for a change of pace, but curiosity kept pulling me back. All 4 books are full of suspence and terror. The creatures that threaten mankind aren't your run of the mill zombie, but an even more ferocious beast, with zombie like qualities. These books are hard to put down, or turn off, if you listen to the audiobook version.

Really good

It took me a hot second to get into it because of the military references. I’m not really into military stuff but once it got going, it got exciting and really good to the end.

enjoyed the characters a great deal, a tad much detail on every fight... felt like Anne Rice descr8 ing a porch for 3 pages occasionally but overall really enjoyed the listen.

Can bloody hand to hand get boring? Yes.

By the end of book four (actually, book2), the action was positively repetitive, predictable, and simplistic. I could sum it up for you, but I'm not going to. Was there anything other than lots of improbably successful hand to hand (yes, even KNIFE) action with strong, fast, clawed, bullet resistant, infectious, demons? No, not really. In fairness, there were a few scenes where someone where somebody brought appropriate hardware... but somehow I seem to have missed every action where somebody brought out a 50cal to put down a Goliath... I know I would have used it for that, but what do I know, a scar-h ought to do it! So, if things like 'characters', 'plot', 'realistic action', 'plausible behavior', and the like are important in your books? You shouldn't waste your money. Leave this one for the dollar store.

Great Value, Was Hard to Get Through

I get that I'm in the minority here, but I found this series very hard to get through. I can only sum it up by saying that once you've listened to the first four hours, you've heard the entire 37. It's just a constant battle without a break. The lack of a deeper story wore on me. I did finish it but it took a long time.

I normally enjoy zombie-type stories, but this was like getting hit in the face by a wave that never swelled or ebbed.

Good story

Narrator was perfect for the story. overall story is good and different. I had a hard time staying into the story at times but I think it was due to listening to 4 books instead of one at a time with a break in between.

VFM - Value From Mayhem

What excellent value for money this is. Almost 40 hours of post-apocalyptic mayhem for one credit, four books of a series that rarely takes a breath and barrels along at an impressive pace. It's almost enough to make me end my official mourning period that the Arisen Series finished!

The Tide sees a rather nasty virus devastate the human race and then follows a select group of characters as they try to survive and find ways to rescue humanity. That's hardly treading new ground and of course the fact that humans prove to be as dangerous as the monsters will also come as no surprise.

However, the monsters get some rather tasty upgrades making The Walking Dead look like The Walk in the Park by comparison. There's some nice invention here and it adds to the action which comes thick and fast in a relentless . . . well yes, tide!

It's not perfect but the narration is good and there are some excellent set piece scenes throughout these first four books including early on in the bowels of an oil rig and later in a variety of scenarios. Some of the writing does get a bit repetitive at times and I wouldn't class Melchiorri as the greatest in terms of character development or dialogue.

BUT, this does have something in a grab a bag of popcorn and let the horrors unfold kind of way and given the value of four books in one you can't really lose by choosing it.

Boooooooring

Within the first 30 minutes I must have been infidelity to no less then 20 characters in 5 scenes. Remind me again why I should care about these charges given such shallow development of each. Its no wonder the books in the series are bundled together.

Boring

Thought I was getting great value 4 books and many hours of listening enjoyment . So purchased it on a whim . Found the books boring though I stuck it out to the end in the hope they would get better . Just goes to prove quantity dose not always equal quality .

The Tide1-4

This was the longest 37.5 hours in my life!I couldnpt decide if I wanted to keep listening or not. When I purchased it I was expecting a more sea based zombie invasion.I liked some parts but was just neutral about most. Ryan Kennard Burke was a fine narrator.

Best Post-Apocalyptic Book I've ever listened to!

What a fantastic post-apocalyptic story. It had non-stop action and gripped my undivided attention throughout. The characters were perfect and the narrator, Ryan Kennard Burke superb! If you enjoyed After it Happened or The Mountain Man, you're likely to love this book.

Yes, the fight scenes and descriptions of the skulls and "the others" can be a bit repetitive near the end, but they still had me sitting on the edge of my seat. I'm delighted to see there are more books in the series - The skulls are evolving and starting to think!! Personally, I loved it and would highly recommend it! Plus, it''s great value for money - 4 books for 1 credit! :)

great story

excellent story set at a good pace with a twist on the zombie type scenario.

didn't like the narrator though I believe it was either the wrong choice or maybe it wasnt his choice to perform the way he does - sort of a horror story read in the style of children's bedtime story. almost put me off but glad I stuck with it as the story is worth it.

Very very very repetitive!

Initially seemed a good deal but with 4 hours listening to go ... I couldn’t stand it anymore. Very descriptive, but there are only so many ways you can kill something and this is were the repetition came in. The storyline suffered due to the endless detailed descriptions of the destruction of the zombies and I found that I had stopped listed for several minutes and was still in the same scene. Sorry but give this one a wide berth.
