Story
Cal's "honeymoon" didn't start off quite how he'd planned. For starters, he was heading somewhere he didn't actually want to go. And secondly, he was going alone and unmarried. He had no idea that his first visit to New York City would also land him in the middle of a domestic terror attack, forcing him to flee Manhattan in a desperate bid to survive. This was no ordinary terror attack. The Movement, in a misguided attempt to seize political control of the USA, unwittingly invited the destruction of their homeland.

Publisher's Summary
"A thrilling, pulse-pounding addition to the genre with compelling science and a frightening twist." (Nicholas Sansbury Smith, NY Times and USA Today best-selling author of the Extinction Cycle and Hell Divers series)
This audiobook contains the first four audiobooks of the Tide series, filled with post-apocalyptic action, suspense, and intrigue.
A devastating bioweapon will change the face and fate of humanity as we know it.
Captain Dominic Holland leads a crew of skilled covert operatives and scientific personnel aboard a clandestine ship dedicated to fighting chemical and biological warfare. Their missions have taken them across the world to combat sinister plots and dangerous adversaries. But their next assignment is more dangerous than any they faced before.
Far off the Eastern Coast of the US, intelligence officers discover a covert laboratory on an abandoned oil rig with unspeakable horrors. Twisted creatures wash ashore across the country. Hospitals are overrun by patients suffering from an incurable disease with terrifying symptoms.
Dom and his team may be the only ones equipped to find out why. They embark on a globe-trotting race to unravel the apocalyptic mystery behind the bioweapon destroying civilization.
But will their efforts be enough to turn the tide - or is humanity’s fate already sealed?

Best in genre yet!
Wow! This book defines "Nitty Gritty". A roller coaster ride that just doesn't stop. Realistic characters that gave their all. I completely give my recommendation for this book in the genre's Horror and Post-Apocalyptic. Now for the obligatory: "I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."

good book
good series the first book is the best. the only issue I have is the video game feel as the creatures become mutated. I am not a fan of the mutation but well written and worth a credit for the 4 pack of books to see if you dig the story.

Can bloody hand to hand get boring? Yes.
By the end of book four (actually, book2), the action was positively repetitive, predictable, and simplistic. I could sum it up for you, but I'm not going to. Was there anything other than lots of improbably successful hand to hand (yes, even KNIFE) action with strong, fast, clawed, bullet resistant, infectious, demons? No, not really. In fairness, there were a few scenes where someone where somebody brought appropriate hardware... but somehow I seem to have missed every action where somebody brought out a 50cal to put down a Goliath... I know I would have used it for that, but what do I know, a scar-h ought to do it! So, if things like 'characters', 'plot', 'realistic action', 'plausible behavior', and the like are important in your books? You shouldn't waste your money. Leave this one for the dollar store.

Interesting and different take on the Apocalypse!
I found the characters enjoyable and very easy to get interested in. I rooted for them or hated them. the creatures were very different than the run of the mill zombies, and even evolved. I also found it intriguing that there base was a ship. I liked that of the 2 daughters the college age one, Cara was fighting and the younger, Sadie, was just protected instead making her unrealistic as a child rambo.
I'm moving on to the next in the series immediately. can't wait.

A diffrtent kind of zombie.
I listened to all 4 books consecutively. I kept thinking I'd go for a change of pace, but curiosity kept pulling me back. All 4 books are full of suspence and terror. The creatures that threaten mankind aren't your run of the mill zombie, but an even more ferocious beast, with zombie like qualities. These books are hard to put down, or turn off, if you listen to the audiobook version.

Unexpected surprise!
This is not my normal type of book, however, this story sounded intriguing. And wow, was it ever. You get hooked into the story and the characters. I could easily see this as a tv series. First 4 books are awesome! Can’t wait to start the next! Ryan Burke did a great job of narrating. Hope he continues with the series. Gonna send this series to my son and grandson. VFM - Value From Mayhem
What excellent value for money this is. Almost 40 hours of post-apocalyptic mayhem for one credit, four books of a series that rarely takes a breath and barrels along at an impressive pace. It's almost enough to make me end my official mourning period that the Arisen Series finished!
The Tide sees a rather nasty virus devastate the human race and then follows a select group of characters as they try to survive and find ways to rescue humanity. That's hardly treading new ground and of course the fact that humans prove to be as dangerous as the monsters will also come as no surprise.
However, the monsters get some rather tasty upgrades making The Walking Dead look like The Walk in the Park by comparison. There's some nice invention here and it adds to the action which comes thick and fast in a relentless . . . well yes, tide!
It's not perfect but the narration is good and there are some excellent set piece scenes throughout these first four books including early on in the bowels of an oil rig and later in a variety of scenarios. Some of the writing does get a bit repetitive at times and I wouldn't class Melchiorri as the greatest in terms of character development or dialogue.
BUT, this does have something in a grab a bag of popcorn and let the horrors unfold kind of way and given the value of four books in one you can't really lose by choosing it.
