About this listen

It's official: my step bro is the biggest himbo ever to himbo.

He's a massive blond beefcake with a soft heart and an over-eager smile. The mere sight of him incites a shaking hot rage in me.

He's everywhere. He's around me all the time. So sweet and gentle that it makes me feel wild. I see him and smell him everywhere. When I can't see him or smell him, I hear him. The wall between our bedrooms is paper thin. I can't help it—I hear what he does in his room when he thinks he's alone. I hear everything.

I know I shouldn't do it. It's obviously a terrible, terrible idea. Still, I bide my time. I wait, and I wait, and finally, I pounce.

"Luke! I know what you're doing in there."

I’m not one to write reviews but had to for this book. Loved the story & the narration was amazing, particularly the part of Jesse.

I really enjoyed this and have added it to Favorites. The story was very engaging and the connection between the two makes engrossing.
What really nailed it was the narration. It started off fairly standard but as the men got closer, it evolved into something really impressive for me.
It was the way the reading was paced with small pauses when they were reflecting and their feelings deepened for instance. The narration was varied and really drew me in. recommended if you enjoy either MM romance or stepbrother romance.

Superb narration. Solid writing. Engaging story

This was a first by this author for me and I enjoyed it. It was low angst, no break up, very spicy, but no parental drama about the relationship- there's other parental drama but not homophobic.
The narrators were great, they really brought the characters to life.
I'm curious about book 2.

Solid low angst MM romance.

A book called ‘The Step Bro Situation’ has no right being this heart-warming. I ripped through this in half a day and I’m going to go read everything this author has ever written now.

The narration was also very good.

Fantastic

I'll be honest, going off the title and the cover, I was expecting...fluff. Junk food. Something easy and undemanding I could listen to while doing other things. What I wasn't expecting was to binge the first half in a day. I was blown away by Ellis Evans' characterisation, this is the first title I've heard him on, and I'll be keeping an eye out for his name in future. Likewise Reign, I'll be giving her other titles a look in. The story has depth and nuance, and at times feels almost like a character study. It's very...human. Sweet, happy, sad, messy, human. I loved it.

Surprising

When Jesse’s parents divorced and Jesse’s mom took him to Australia, he learnt the lesson that the world can be a hurtful place. Now 19, he’s come back in California to live with his dad, stepmom, and stepbrother, Luke, while he studies. Full of sneering disdain for the uncomplicated joy his dad’s new family exhibits, Jesse tries (unsuccessfully) to keep his eye rolls and lip curls to himself. But Luke sees far more than Jesse realises and soon the long-held attraction between them becomes incendiary, if only they can keep it all under wraps.

I absolutely loved this—the understanding of human nature and the clever writing was spectacular. Jesse was such a well-sketched character, determined to be miserable, dismissive of the ‘uncool’ actions and reactions of his new family, and a little hurt boy in a big and surly man’s body. While Jesse initially judges Luke as a naive, uncomplicated himbo, Luke continually surprises Jesse with his intelligence, his great instincts, and his willingness to take risks and it’s great watching Luke rehabilitate Jesse and give him new hope. The chemistry between them ranged from beautifully tender to almost kinky and it suited both their characters and their journeys. Ultimately, this was a deep dive into the push and pull some parents subject their child to when they split and the emotional impact it can have. This is my first Jesse H. Reign novel and definitely won’t be my last.🎧 Liam DiCosimo (as Luke) always performs well but new-to-me narrator Ellis Evans (as Jesse) was a total revelation, he gave such a pitch-perfect and heart-felt performance, and I want to hear much, much more from him!

Steamy with a big heart—an absolute favourite!
