Critic Reviews

"The Rat can hold his head high amongst the most elevated superhero company - Bulldog Drummond, James Bond, and Flash Gordon included." ( Times Literary Supplement)
"Pure entertainment... Abounding in quick action and quicker jokes... The Stainless Steel Rat series shows Harrison's talents at best advantage." ( S.F. Review)

A good novel

If you are this deep in the series you will be buying this one. that being said it is a good, fast, fun read like the others in the series. i'd say this is about on par with the previous book. So, judge accordingly.

An all-time classic

I can't even remember how many times I listened to this one. Humour, tension, and more humour. Moral but illegal family in action and the older and wiser Stainless Steel Rat powered by 'ron' to ease the work of synapsies.

Well done!

In every way. Very entertaining! The books do make me want to have a drink though. As Harrison calls it "cogitation juice"

It's the Stainless Steel Rat, what else to say?

Harry Harrison's series still entertains after all this time. Looking for deep mystical dialog?
Sorry, these are pure quill space opera, as SSR and his murderous family continue to confront the bad guys on yet another world!

Good Listion but not as good as reading it

I remember reading the book and laughing all the time and that is why it is one of my favorite books of all time. However, not like that when I listed to it.

Still a good story but I hopping for the Phil Giganteto help the humor come out. However, Phil Gigante did do different voices for different characters.

My favourite Rat book, and with good reason

This is my favourite Rat book, and Gigante's reading is as usual just right - expressing the Rat just as it should be done. Only written 4 years after 'Wants you', but by then in the eighties, it has a much more 'modern' tone and style, so it holds up better than some of the older books.

The plot romps along with little to hold it back, and Gigante portrays the entire diGriz family as enthusiastic felons who are essentially having a family holiday. You would need to have read the previous books in order for this to make sense, but that's generally true of any book in a series.
