About this listen

Michael Freeman is a disabled veteran who had just been fired from his mind-numbing cubicle job, which allowed his opportunistic girlfriend to dump him. Now, he only wants to spend some time at his grandfather's mountain cabin so he can unwind, away from the drudgery of daily life and with a cold beer in his hands.

Standing in his way is an ancient spaceship with an emotional AI, nanites that have invaded his body, an international crime syndicate, a suicidal FBI agent on a vigilante mission, terrorists . . . and that's just the beginning.

What can one man do when faced with insurmountable odds? Call it quits? Or . . . call some of his old army buddies and blow those obstacles to smithereens?

Can he become more than he had ever dreamed, reaching further than any man before? Staying under the radar of the powers that be while righting a few wrongs of the modern world.

He is sure of three things: 1. He really doesn't want to follow the rules anymore . . . aside from his own; 2. Space is the ultimate frontier, and he had been given a turnkey technology to reach it—if they let him; and 3. Those that want to hurt him and the people he cares about will rue the day they were born.

I don’t like how much listing there is at the start of the story. It does reduce towards the end and you can see the author improves his writing style.

Story is basic. The hero is given huge power by finding a spaceship, and turns into a megalomaniac with a hero complex.

I did enjoy the basic story and it filled in some free time. Not sure I’d bother spending any credits for the rest of the series. I’m not a fan of these 1.5 and 2.5 book trend that I’m seeing recently.

Basically an Elon Musk wet dream.

Engaged throughout, the story and narrator nailed this one. Recommended for anyone looking for another great book to read.

Great Sci-fi

The books are an interesting and engaging story. I have to say it's greedy of the author and publisher to create these half release books that are 3 hours when the other books are only 9 hours. Why not link these books to be one purchase?? I'm not going to pay $15 for a 3 hour audiobook.

What is with this 1.5 book??

I thought the story line showed promise.
But...I started to believe a teen may of been the author. A fairy tale of saving the world etc etc.
I wonder what the narrator thought while reading it

Idealistic

No understanding of human nature as some guy the main protagonist believes in unicorns and rainbows that only he can save the world from itself…. Blah blah …OMG

Main character is an idiot..
