Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction,” eating little and weighing herself five times a day. She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income.

It was a perfect Wednesday morning when Alex 'Chumpy' Pullin kissed his partner, Ellidy, goodbye to go spearfishing. Most days Ellidy would go to the beach too, but that day she didn't. Later, there was a knock at the door. A man had been found unconscious on the ocean floor. It was Chumpy. From that moment, Ellidy's world stopped. There was deep grief, disbelief and then the gradual realisation that this was real. Ellidy's partner of eight years, a World Champion snowboarder, a man of energy and music, was gone.

Like most of us, Toni Lodge tells little white lies all the time. Whether it's "I'm five minutes away" or "It must have gone to my spam folder", most of these innocent fibs are harmless. But what if you realised that you weren't just lying about the little things, but the big "life" stuff too? When Toni sat down to write this memoir, she realized that the lies she was telling herself were hiding some pretty important home truths—about her work, her identity and her mental health. In her dogged pursuit of these truths, she brazenly explores everything.

That is, until something happened that enabled her to really see life for the gift it is. Emma was in a skydiving accident that made her a paraplegic. Story
When former government staffer Alisha Aitken-Radburn was given a 'villain edit' on her first season of The Bachelor, she wasn't entirely surprised – there are only a handful of character tropes producers can manipulate into storylines. But the backlash on social media was unexpectedly intense, and Alisha found her sense of identity completely rocked by a single comment: 'You are a bad person'. Determined to shake the 'villain' label, she returned to reality TV screens, and this time, she got a different edit.

Editorial reviews
Horrified by the idea of going out twice in one week but still won’t book your own doctor’s appointment? Then The Space Between, a relatable guide to life in your 20s, is your next must-listen.
Already claiming a cult-favourite podcast (Shameless) among their achievements, Melbournites Zara McDonald and Michelle Andrews are the perfect guides to the weird limbo between childhood and adulthood. As you listen, they’ll cover everything from light-hearted anecdotes (like forgetting to take your car to the mechanic) to hard-hitting themes like sexism, rejection and toxic friendships. Bringing into the audiobook the warm, funny personalities that made their podcast such a success, McDonald and Andrews are like the older sisters you wish you had and they won't be shy to share some uncomfortable truths with you.
Spanning four main themes—Love, Ambition, Mind & Body and Voice—each section is split into short and relatable stories, in the format of email dialogues, checklists and more, making it the perfect listen to dive in and out of wherever you may be.
Offering comfort, advice and a few laughs along the way, this audiobook is the perfect companion to take with you into fully fledged adulthood.
Publisher's Summary
There's this weird gap in life that's fuelled by cheap tacos and even cheaper tequila - also known as our 20s. It's a specific limbo of being suspended between being a teenager and a 'Proper Adult', and though it's wildly confusing, often lonely, sometimes embarrassing and frequently daunting, there's also a whole lot of magic to be found in the chaos. It's a time when we're finding our own voices, cementing our relationships and starting to fulfil our big ambitions (or simply just working out what they are).
Michelle Andrews and Zara McDonald, creators of the award-winning pop culture podcast Shameless, are two of the many 20-something women trying to make sense of it all. They definitely don't have all the answers, but they know that mapping out our place in the world is a little bit easier when we do it together.
Brimming with wit and unflinching honesty, here are their stories and personal puzzles about life as 20-somethings: from heartbreak and mental health challenges to overcoming career setbacks and letting go of fear. (Not forgetting the deeper meaning behind the state of their fridges and why it's so damn good to ghost out of a friend's party.)
Join Zara and Michelle as they navigate their journeys between the women they are now and who they want to be. You just might find tiny pieces of yourself in the space between the first second and the last.

Where the fuck have you been?
As a 28 year old, I desperately could have used this book as I entered my 20’s. I could identify with every single thing you said, and I am so glad that I am not alone.
This book has made me feel seen, in both an uncomfortable way, and a crazy supportive way. You girls are magic, and I’m so glad that this is in the world for every young girl who has no idea what the fuck she is doing.
Please introduce this as a part of year 12 PE syllabus immediately, because I learnt more from this about life than I ever learnt in that.

Fabulous read!
One of the best books I’ve read in a long time. It shares experiences, advice, and the realities of your 20s so well and does so in such a self aware and raw way. Loved every moment of it. I laughed, I cried, but more importantly I related. I felt seen and heard and I am so grateful for this experience.
