I listened to this novel in one day. I do enjoy books from M. R. Forbes because they are an easy listen and move quite quickly. However, although I enjoyed it, this is not one of his better works. The Sheriff series is becoming repetitive and I would like to see a change in emphasis. I thought we had had enough of the trife, but in this book they are resurrected. I’m not a great fan of the narrator, but that may just be my preference because I don’t like the accent. However, overall it was an exciting read and easy to follow. I do appreciate that each book is a complete story, with no cliffhangers and only a vague hint at what may be coming up in the next book in the series.
