Story
God Has a Name is a simple yet profound guide to understanding God in a new light - focusing on what God says about himself. This one shift has the potential to radically alter how you relate to God, not as a doctrine, but as a relational being who responds to you in an elastic, back-and-forth way. In God Has a Name, John Mark Comer takes you line by line through Exodus 34:6-8 - Yahweh's self-revelation on Mount Sinai, one of the most quoted passages in the Bible.

Scazzero begins with four beneath-the-surface, systemic gaps that undermine serious discipleship. He provides a clear vision for a church culture that deeply changes lives and then practically unpacks the seven biblical marks of emotionally healthy discipleship.

This is your wake-up call to resist the Hustle culture and embrace the slowness of Jesus. Our culture makes constant demands of us: Do more. Accomplish more. Buy more. Post more. Be more. In following these demands, we have indeed become more: More anxious. More tired. More hurt. More depressed. More frantic. What we are doing isn't working! In a society where hustle is the expectation, busyness is the norm and information is king, we have forgotten the fundamentals that make us human, anchor our lives, and provide meaning.

Like Thomas, we're caught between two unsatisfying stories: We want to believe in God but can't reconcile his presence with our circumstances and internal struggles. But what if there's a better story than shame? What if there's redemption so complete that there's nothing left to hide? What if there's a God who can heal your resentments, fears, and loneliness in such a profound way that you feel whole?

We live in a time when our culture is becoming increasingly shallow, coarse, and empty. Radical shifts in the areas of sexuality, ethics, technology, secular ideologies, and religion have caused the once-familiar landscape of a generation ago to be virtually unrecognizable. Yet rather than shine as a beacon of light, the church often is silent or accommodating. This isn’t a new phenomenon. During World War II, pastor and theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer was deeply troubled by the compromise in the German church.

Publisher's Summary
A fresh, challenging and compassionate response to busyness, based on the way of life Jesus offered his disciples.
Who are you becoming? That was the question nagging pastor and author John Mark Comer. By outward metrics, everything appeared successful. But inwardly, things weren't pretty. So he turned to a trusted mentor for guidance and heard these words: 'Ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life. Hurry is the great enemy of the spiritual life.' It wasn't the response he expected, but it continues to be the answer he needs.
Too often we treat the symptoms of toxicity in our modern world instead of trying to pinpoint the cause. A growing number of voices are pointing at hurry, or busyness as a root of much evil. Within this audiobook, you'll find a compelling emotional and spiritual case against hurry and in favour of a slower, simpler way of life.

A Crucial Consideration
At the very least you will consider how you spend your time, what you prioritise whether it is family or work or achievements. Or a I did, consider the reason for my hurry and lack of faith and peace in God. Sometimes you need a nudge to thoughtfully consider how greatly hurry controls your life from a God frearing man who has walked that very burdensome road.

A must read for the tired, harried, hustler (and everyone else)
The title of this book grabbed my attention, and I (ironically) chose the audiobook so I could “squeeze” it into my busy days. Ah, this book is exactly what I needed for my overworked, unsatisfied and hectic days. The author’s humour, honest anecdotes and POV / arguments for the ruthless elimination of hurry are a perfect culmination that persuaded me to commit to this simpler way of living. In all fairness, it’s what my soul was crying out for all these years—yet the way it was brilliantly (and biblically) laid out in this book was the confirmation and reminder I needed. You won’t be disappointed by this read (listen) if you feel a little or a lot of overwhelm and crave a better way.

Faithful and easy, beautiful and light
I am so thankful for John Mark’s honesty in sharing his struggles and his need to slow down.
His prose is easy to listen to, and light hearted, and also packed with encouragement to act.
I have begun a new season of walk with Jesus in a different light. I enjoy my coffee in the morning with my wife, being present to the needs of my kids as they open up about what they find hard. These gifts would have been pushed aside in my old addition and slavery to hurry. But in Jesus I joyfully surrender my drive to prove myself. Because His yoke is easy, his burden is light.

I didnt love it
I did not love this book ( but I know people who rave about it), there were some interesting facts in the book, some things I will take away and think about but overall, I found myself thinking, " when is this going to finish?"
The narrator sort of got on my nerves a bit, I found myself rolling my eyes at times. I am more into deeper theological books, as I found this book lacking in that department.

Enjoyable from start to finish
What I have learnt from reading this book?
Time is valuable so don't waste it but use it wisely.
Feed your soul good things, God things and helpful things.
What goes in come out eventually.
Walking like Jesus means to walk slowly.
If we pray break my heart for what break your, then we need to slow down long enough for God to show us.
Thank you

Loved it, hope for a life worth living
I read/listen to very little. This was worth the investment of time. Hope for a better life and some tools to start the process of getting there.
