Publisher's Summary

A fresh, challenging and compassionate response to busyness, based on the way of life Jesus offered his disciples.

Who are you becoming? That was the question nagging pastor and author John Mark Comer. By outward metrics, everything appeared successful. But inwardly, things weren't pretty. So he turned to a trusted mentor for guidance and heard these words: 'Ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life. Hurry is the great enemy of the spiritual life.' It wasn't the response he expected, but it continues to be the answer he needs.

Too often we treat the symptoms of toxicity in our modern world instead of trying to pinpoint the cause. A growing number of voices are pointing at hurry, or busyness as a root of much evil. Within this audiobook, you'll find a compelling emotional and spiritual case against hurry and in favour of a slower, simpler way of life.

Needed in 2020

This book has been on my ‘to read’ list since November 2019 and only now, September 2020 have I finished. It’s super practical and insightful on how we can look at living a quiet, slower life. With all that has happened in 2020, this has come at a time that makes it easier to implement. Great audiobook and great book. Totally recommend.

Wonderful.

Wonderful, timely. Thoughtful and conversational yet full of deep wisdom and practical application. JMC overflows with humility and love - and occasional humour. Grateful for his life and the intentional way he carries his role as pastor and leader and apprentice under Jesus. Such a breath of fresh air in this hurried world. So grateful for this book. It has truly changed my life and brought me closer to the unhurried, intentional and patient ever-present Jesus.

A must read!!

There’s so much I’ve taken from listening to this book first time, I can’t wait to listen again with a notebook & pen to hand. A challenging listen but something we all should. It’s encouraging, motivating & inspiring to live beyond what our current society deems necessity but to live with the yolk of Jesus, to an calmer, trusting & ultimately happier life when we reach eternity.
