Publisher's Summary

A series of gruesome murders on the Lincolnshire fens. An old enemy from the past. A deadly game of cat and mouse.

The peaceful little village of Saltern-le-Fen is buzzing with excitement. A film crew are in town, shooting a new TV police drama, Fen Division Five. But Detective Jackman receives a disturbing tip-off that something is wrong.

Detective Marie Evans meanwhile is looking forward to moving into her dream home. But there’s no time to celebrate. The naked body of a young man is found at the river’s edge. He’s been strangled, his skin massaged in expensive oil.

Two days later, another handsome young man is discovered in a shallow lake. His throat cut. He too is lathered in body oil.

At the same time, an arch enemy from the past emerges. A master manipulator who has his sights on Jackman and Evans. From behind the bars of his high security prison, he’s putting the finishing touches to a devastating revenge plan.

As they hunt a brutal killer, Jackman and Evans are themselves hunted in a deadly game of cat and mouse – and the stakes could not be higher.

Great series

I really enjoyed this book. Can be a bit corny at times but still well worth a listen

Loved it

Wow! For me this was the best book yet. I didn’t want it to finish I was so engrossed in the story.
It had a different feeling than the previous books sharing this story line and it was perfect. It was dark and gritty. There was no way I could have guessed the ending.
Richard Armitage once again does a fantastic job of bringing the characters to life.
I definitely recommend this to anyone who is aware of the previous books with this story line.

Another great Jackman & Evans tale

I do enjoy this series, even though I'm not normally one for "police" stories. Excellent narration by Richard Armytage, great tempo and range of voices for characters.
I do hope this isn't the last one in the series!

A nice conclusion

This started quite slowly and took a bit to get going but was worth it. The end was satisfying after quite the journey. I have read all 10 of this series and this did not disappoint

The ending is so unexpected!

I really like this book and love Joy Ellis’s books I can stop downloading more to listen to. Always enjoy listening to Richard Armatage. He’s a greedy story teller and actor. Worth buying this book.

Touched my heart

what stood out for me was how the major character's loss and suffering influenced their actions, and how they supported & cared for each other - through the need to address a situation that affected them all to a greater or lesser degree.

The Rivers End

Exceptional as are all Joy’s books. Jackman and Evan’s finally got their man. Can’t wait to see what’s next
