The whole Hyperion/Endymion series is a great work
If you could sum up The Rise of Endymion in three words, what would they be?
A mix of Sci-Fi with philosophical musing and classic space opera
What did you like best about this story?
I likes the philosophical musings and the description of the "pax". The author clearly knows his catholic church. It wraps up the Hyperion and Endymion series reasonably well.
Which character – as performed by Victor Bevine – was your favourite?
All were OK, though it may have been better to have a female voice for the female characters. "A Betik" and the ship were my favourites.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes.
Any additional comments?
I found the "boys own adventure" segments rather long and boring. The author looked like he was trying to appeal to a broad range of readers.

The priest is attractive, in case you didn't know
I adore this series so very much. An evolving experience through each book -It's refreshing to not have the same story repeated but with different characters. Nothing seems wasted, every character and event serves a purpose and not always within the same book, which is all woven so beautifully. Dan Simmons does not condescend the reader with his work; I felt trusted to apply thought but not so much as to become a task.
A lot of existing reviews comment on too much description and while it can be a bit tedious here and there, it wasn't really that much of an issue due to the nature of audio books. On top of that, the scene painting is crucial to the point of this story and the conclusion would not have nearly the same impact without that build up.
Victor Bevine did a wonderful job as narrator, I will be looking for anything else he has worked on very shortly.
Side note: Throughout the 4 books of this series, there seems to be a point of letting you know that priest character Paul Duré is very attractive any time he is mentioned. I thought that was hilarious.
Loved it. Am looking forward to coming back to it.

All of the feels
I laughed, cried, felt anxious, and was excited. Action, suspense, a great science fiction story. A few details which I must have missed, but Simmons has provided us with a wonderful end to this series. I wish I could re-read this series for the first time. It was wonderful

Beyond incredible
This is the greatest bit of fiction I’ve read in my entire life. The entire series is special and One could not ask for a better finale than this.
Deep, profound, prophetic, funny, loving, moving.
It’s everything you could want in a story and so much more.
Dan is an absolute genius
