Publisher's Summary

Chaiyal "the Heretic" North, former intergalactic heavyweight champ, flees the wrath of crimelord Gredok the Splithead by going to a place Gredok can't reach - the Reef. A frontier planetoid where citizens try to scratch a living from the rock, the Reef is a lawless land ruled by the strong and the vicious.

For Chai, it's a hardscrabble life vastly removed from his former super-stardom. No more media, no more octagon, no more bright lights, and no more mods. When he hits rock bottom, he must carve out a new existence free from the weight of his past.

Hell of a lot of fun

I love when Scott reads his own stories, he brings a much deeper portrayal to the characters than the commercial voice artists.

In this installment of the GFL series, we have a cowboy story on steroids amped up with all our favourite races and some of the characters we love to hate flavouring the mix from a distance.

I hope we have a brand new setting for QB and his motley cast of characters to come play in. But even without that potential Scott Sigler and Matt Wallace have created a fun story that can stand alone.

This is worth your time.

Fun sequel to the GFL Novella that started it all

THE REEF is a sequel to TITLE FIGHT, and one of the novellas that supplement that vast, varied, and deeply diverse Galactic Football League (GFL) series. The story picks up about two years after Chaiyal North is exiled to The Reef, an ancient, formerly-alive carcass on the edge of known space. Essentially a frontier with accompanying lack of lawfulness, The Reef is a place where people go to escape their past and build a future.

The future that Chai, now known as Lash Kari, builds for himself is less than purposeful, as he wallows in self-pity and dejection until his own choices catch up to him and force him to make deliberate changes to the way he lives.

Essentially a tale of redemption, THE REEF takes Chai on a path he never would have considered for himself, but ends up fitting as well as the championship belt he left behind. Full of new characters, locales and creatures, along with familiar settings and a few recognizable faces, THE REEF is a fun and exciting sidebar to the larger GFL universe.

Needs an ending

Good story, love all of Scott’s books, but I didn’t realize this was the opening book to hopefully a series? If he decides to write more of them. Really left it open ended.

The Dark Overlord does it again

Another amazing book in the GFL universe. I've been a fan for the better part of 10 years and this series is my favorite of all your work.

This man has yet to fail me. Great character development, and narration (sans the attempt at female voices) LOL.

Siglerism ftw

A hard hitting return for the heretic, highly enjoyable.
Plot twists and no brakes as usually for the Siglerverse.

nice story but plot lacked depth

I especially enjoyed hearing the story in the author's voice. that was just like in the old days when Sigler started podcasting. this story was enjoyable but a tad one-dimensional. I look forward to hearing the further adventures of Kai-El North, a Marshall of the Reef.

Loved it!

This was a real surprise. It is my favorite piece of fiction out of this entire series.
It is dark, the most bloody one until now. It combines the western atmosphere with a pinch of Lovecraft.
It really left me wanting more.
