Religious book. Don't like being preached to.

Ultra religions book, don't buy unless you enjoy being preached to about the fictitious 'God' every minute. Waste of money.

To the point and so much to now think about

a great read and one of the main impacts that came to me from the book was to read the bible and be guided by it. this includes to incorporate the bible into my affirmations, visualization and positive thoughts. also- great examples and stories that are inspiring. I dont usually think to re read a book ( or listen to).

    Only for the devoutly religious.

I stopped listening after realising the whole system is based upon deeply held religious beliefs and I do not hold those beliefs. This book is incorrectly advertised I need a credit.

    Religious based book

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Has some very simple, powerful messaged but it was reitterated by "god" every few minutes. Whilst I believe you can have religion as your faith, it was not for me and I did not know this was a preachy type book until after I had pruchased it.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Simmilar style throughout the whole book in relations to positive messages and god.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

As much as its lovely the author reads the book, I did not find comfort in his words.

Did The Power of Positive Thinking inspire you to do anything?

Inspired me to go and buy more books.

    the Power of Positive Thinking

A classic ! Kind of reminds me of How to win friends and influence people. I loved the fact that the author is the narrator, some of the storys he used, i found to be quite funny and had a few good laughs through out listening. I loved it ! It really emphasized the power of faith and prayer which I find absolutely essential to surviving day to day life. Most people can use all the tip they can get to stay positive. I esspecially enjoyed his remedy for worrying. I helps.

    Saved my life<br />

I love the way NVP cares about people. I love the way he refers to Scripture to lift and encourage people. It built my confidence I never knew I had. This book and it's tips and teachings are so easy to understand, a third grader can appreciate it as well as an adult. It's humbling and inspiring at the same time. I read it over several times a year because life can knock you down and be cruel.

I listened to this 12 years ago and I had to add it to my collection. I'm not of his faith, but the principles are universal. Definitely worth listening to.

Everything that I needed to hear

I downloaded this book and have listened to it 4 times in less than a week. I have found myself feeling spiritually dead recently and this book is giving me so much hope. It is helping me to become closer to God and to feel like I am finally headed in the right direction. I can't say enough about how much I love this book.

Why "The Power of Positive Thinking"

I have to admit I have owned the book for almost a decade and struggled to get through it. Maybe the difference is the period which it was written in or his ability to tie the bible in. It just didn't create any feeling of curiosity or desire. The style of the book and the audio abridged version I felt lacked excitement and gratitude, that one should feel after hearing the message of Peale. This book and audio program has sold millions and I still recommend both as they have key principles that may help you look at your self differently. May you listen to this audio book and do what's most important which is take a thorough self analysis to understanding yourself. Conquer yourself by creating better habits by stacking good ones all day.

The one-star folks should have done some homework

Would you consider the audio edition of The Power of Positive Thinking to be better than the print version?

The audio edition of The Power of Positive Thinking is a wonderful complement to the print version. I have owned this book both in cassette and CD formats. It's nice to have it in a totally digital format that can go anywhere with me.

What about the narrator’s performance did you like?

I always prefer hearing the author read a book than a professional narrator for two reasons: First, the author knows where he/she wants the emphasis to be. Second, I can get some good insights as to the author's character.

    Any additional comments?

The people who complain about the religiosity of the text have only their poor research for their problem. A quick overview of Dr. Peale's background would have revealed that he was a Christian minister and his doctorate was in theology. Dr. Peale pastored Marble Collegiate Church in Manhattan for over 50 years. All of this information is readily available for anyone to see. My only complaint with Dr. Peale's writing is that it has a somewhat stilted style that is typical of most works originally published in the first half of the twentieth century.

too much, much too much religion!

Others have mentioned, if religion isn't your thing, pass on this book. I can hardly get thorough the first 20 minutes, Christianity is used as the base, the walls, and the nails holding the walls. If u catch my drift.

I had high hopes for this book cause I had heard nothing but good stuff said about it in other podcasts and no I wish I could get my credit back. Once I listened to the whole thing, if you can look/hear passed the telling religious advices, it's actually not that bad. I just can't see myself giving it anything higher than 3 stars.

    Great book.

Great book. It's got a string biblical theme throughout which I thought might put me off given that I'm neither religious or from a Christian background. However, the ideas presented are practical and useful and I was very impressed by the interpretation of the biblical verses to put forward the ideas in the book.

    Well worth it.

    Religious

This book is extremely focused on the bible, Jesus Christ and the Lord. Unfortunately while I believe in positive affirmations, I don't want to be preached to

    A book for Christians

The description of the book is very misleading. There is no mention of Christianity but the entire book and the methods contained within are for practicing Christians. Everything in this book is about Christianity's concept of faith and the guidance/examples about restoring faith are based on the Bible.
