"You have two days to pass your audition. You better pass it, feller. You’re joining the circus. Ain’t that the best news you ever got?" Delivered by a trio of psychotic clowns, this ultimatum plunges Jamie into the horrific alternate universe that is the centuries-old Pilo Family Circus, a borderline world between Hell and Earth from which humankind’s greatest tragedies have been perpetrated. Yet in this place - peopled by the gruesome, grotesque, and monstrous - where violence and savagery are the norm, Jamie finds that his worst enemy is himself. When he applies the white face paint, he is transformed into JJ, the most vicious clown of all. And JJ wants Jamie dead! Echoes of Lovecraft, Bret Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, and early Stephen King resound through the pages of this magical, gleefully macabre work nominated as Best Novel by the International Horror Guild.

There are so many stories out there which do a mystery box and don't explain anything. Will, however, possibly over explains to a point of there being no plot holes but also no real mystery. His writing is great and carries the book through however I found the conclusion to quite unsatisfactory compared to how much I enjoyed the journey getting there. It was also refreshing to hear an Australian narrator who did a great job with the read

Almost great

I really enjoyed this book. I went looking for something new to read and was given this one as i had read a lot of Stephen King. In my opinion its not like King, but i do see references to Lovecraft. It did a good job at balancing between being original but feeling familiar. It was so refreshing having the narrator be Australian and the book, kinda set in Australia.......Kinda....

I was expecting more gore and violence. There were moments that it was there but was interesting that it focus more on the horror of how we see and treat ourselves as well as how it effects those around us.

It was so nice reading something new and i look forward to reading the sequel.

Twisted Faery Tale with horror to back it up
