Publisher's Summary

If you want to discover the captivating history of the Phoenicians, then pay attention...

The Phoenicians remain one of the most enigmatic ancient civilizations, with historians and scholars prone to speculation and educated guesses. Although many Greek, Roman, and Egyptian writers reference the Phoenicians in trade records, military battles, and artistic transactions, few records were left by the original Phoenicians themselves, leaving modern scholars to fill in the blanks through educated guesses and material culture.

The ancient perception about this civilization was mixed. For every writer like Pomponius Mela who lavished praise upon the Phoenicians, there was another who derided the people as nothing more than cheats and hucksters who kept other states’ trade stymied through stranglehold networks and ridiculous deals.

In The Phoenicians: A Captivating Guide to the History of Phoenicia and the Impact Made by One of the Greatest Trading Civilizations of the Ancient World, you will discover chapters, such as:

  • Origins
  • The World of the Phoenicians
  • Political and Legal Structures
  • Daily Life
  • Beauty and Apparel
  • An Unwritten Early History
  • Vassal to the Empires
  • Trade and the Economy
  • Language and Alphabet
  • Religion
  • Warfare
  • Artistry in Multiple Mediums
  • And much, much more!

Recommended

I was honestly shocked at the lack of real historical data about the life of Spartacus. Although you will not know this shortage of actual documentation because the writer does an excellent job of explaining the bits and pieces, making usually the known and the likely opportunities into a captivating story.

Good information

This audiobook described to me, why there are so many related remains during the world. These were reserved traders, who considered their trading spouses. I also think that the values of choice of religion, freedom of speech.. worked with these amazing people. I heartily endorse this audiobook!

best Phoenician book on the market

The Phoenicians are absolutely fascinating people that thrived over 3000 years outdoors having an army as they were radicals. (maybe a good example to understand for the humankind) . Well, l am no academic,

l forever loved history when l was at school and was always intrigued by learning on ancient cultures. We hear so much about Ancient Greece, Egypt, and Roman history, but very little about civilizations before these, so l must say that l found this audiobook very entertaining and a very simple and fun.

An ABC of the ancient world

You manage to hit into the Phoenicians when learning ancient history without really getting a clear idea of who they were, but this audiobook provides you an original insight into their issues, conception, and culture.

The audiobook is very informative

I was tracking the Biblical view of things about Phoenicia and noticed this a grand historical track showing the construction of the Phoenicians as a people and trading idea, to their many colonies in the Mediterranean sea and then away to Britain and the Cornish copper and Tin Mines.

Great Book, Well researched

This audiobook seems a short subjective, but that is truly effective as the author is clearly well researched in this field and has come to the results he thinks are correct. If you have forever admired, "What's up with the Phoenicians?", you should review this audiobook out.

Wonderful bit of history

That's not extremely unique, but this is stuff I believed I knew a least a little bit. It's interesting about a remarkable civilization. We could get a lot from the Phoenicians.

Easy to Understand

Captivating and in-depth research of the Phoenicians. It brings to light that if we do not search and learn from the past, we will surely repeat all the same mistakes and miss all the miracles that can be.
