Breath-giving info- how to breathe to support life

I've been studying breathing for about a year now, out of necessity having developed asthma during the bushfires of 2019/20 in Australia This was on top of breathing problems that I've had since an accident as a toddler.
My doctor diagnosed asthma and since I don't do drugs she suggested I look into Buteyko Breathing which took me to Patrick McKeown. The information in this book gives me the understanding I need to find my way back to breathing well. In my last GP visit she could not hear any crackling in my lungs, as well I can walk up hill easier. I'm not there yet - but I am on the way.
As for performance - I find in some chapters Alan Smyth speaks a bit too fast so I feel tense when I'm listening. But otherwise he's a good narrator.

Excellent read.

Another great book on the power of the breath. A great follow up after Breath by James Nestor as it focuses on the performance side of breathing as well as overall health.

Brilliant

I wish everyone could read this book. It could be life changing. Little known information about the harm of breathing through the mouth - especially for children. Brilliantly researched and presented. With simple exercises to counteract the damage.

The importance almost lost by repetition

This book has some great advice and methods for improving health. All backed up by science and research. However, I did find the book lost its emphasis with all the added narrative and what felt like a long list of testimonials. I understand it and believe in the method but it was hard work to get the book finished.

Please read / listen to this

I wish I had found this sooner. amazing content. As someone who has suffered with asthma all my life I've tried many methods to improve my athletic performance but I've always had my breathing hold me back. I changed sports and positiona to avoid having to do anything involving high levels of cardiovascular activity but this made things worse. After listening to this book it's really obvious what was going wrong. in now following the programs and after only a few days I'm noticing changes. This is a fantastic book and I can't wait to see my progress following the plans

Revolutionary

This is revolutionary and I wander if majority of GP and medical staff even know this stuff and why it isn't widely taught in the medical and sport fields.

Very interesting

A good hours worth of very interesting material that’s well worth listening to. Lots of benefits and got me into nasal breathing. However, very repetitive, padded out with all sorts of could and ifs etc. Diet advice etc that was a bit of an unwanted tangent. The narrator did well and his enthusiasm exudes just like Patrick. I’d probably advise to buy the book and it’ll be easier to filter out what’s not relevant to you. Glad I listened to it, lots of useful information but was waiting for it to end from half way through.
