Like their first book The Glasshouse, Bruist & Simsion provide a really interesting insight into the microcosm of life in a psychiatric unit from both the doctors and patients perspectives. the narration is also excellent, conveying all accents and genders.

I really enjoyed the Glass House by the same authors and progressed to The Oasis. I thoroughly enjoyed both books. Entertaining and enlightening. While immersed in a fully fleshed out story you will also get real insight to the hospital and mental health system in Australia, its pitfalls, its champions and the people at the centre of the storm. Theirs is well written and the narration flawless. I loved it. I can imagine these being a film.

A terrific fictional book that gave really good insight into the challenges of mental health clients for psychiatrists in training. Audio book narrator is great.

The weaving of the 3 principle stories, the personal life of the lead psyc, the story of all her work companion’s, and the many rich stories all thier patients are facing,
All collectively make for compulsive rich utterly genuine heart felt listening.

The sense of genuine characters on real life challenging journeys

This title should come with a trigger warning. Great story and performance with some deep charters and challenging story lines. Very jarring when the therapist response to Hannah’s disclosure is alcohol. It shows how ingrained in Australian culture alcohol use is as this line is slipped in “naturally” where it is inappropriate. I suspect the authors did not take much reflection on this.
