"So many of us hold a deep belief that we were born unworthy," reflects Adyashanti, "inadequate, unlovable, and alone." But what if, in truth, we weren't put here to pay penance, change our karma, or "fix" ourselves? What if we chose to be here because we so loved the world that we poured ourselves into it - to make it whole again, to restore "the hidden divinity amid the disaster"? With Healing the Core Wound of Unworthiness, we're invited to entertain that possibility.

The life of Jesus offers each one of us a map to the direct realization of our eternal and divine nature. On Resurrecting Jesus, Adyashanti excavates the deep, mythic underpinnings of the Gospels to show how we can all find in the story of Jesus the spark for our own spiritual unfolding. Jesus crossed all of the boundary lines that separated the people of his time because he viewed the world from the perspective of what unites us, not what divides us.

The great human quest is to discover who we really are-a discovery that changes our lives and the lives of those around us. With The Deep Heart, spiritual teacher and psychotherapist Dr. John J. Prendergast invites us on a pilgrimage within. The "deep heart" is Prendergast's term for our heart center-a subtle center of emotional and energetic sensitivity, relational intimacy, profound inner knowing, and unconditional love. "The heart area is where we feel most deeply touched by kindness, gratitude, and appreciation, yet it is also where we feel most emotionally wounded".

Now, in these rare recorded gems, he inspires a new generation of inner explorers seeking deeper insights into meditation - its myriad forms, how they work, and what happens when we practice them.

Story
In this modern spiritual classic, the Tibetan meditation master Chögyam Trungpa highlights the commonest pitfall to which every aspirant on the spiritual path falls prey: what he calls spiritual materialism. The universal tendency, he shows, is to see spirituality as a process of self-improvement - the impulse to develop and refine the ego when the ego is, by nature, essentially empty. "The problem is that ego can convert anything to its own use," he said, "even spirituality."

Soul wisdom for a human experience
- By Tammy Hamawi on 02-12-2020
Publisher's Summary
From esteemed teacher Adyashanti comes an eight-hour audio learning series on the search for the ultimate reality beneath the narrative of our lives.
“Our inner lives are every bit as astonishing, baffling, and mysterious as the infinite vastness of the cosmos.” - Adyashanti
We all define our lives through the lens of stories. Whether we see ourselves as heroes or victims, good people or bad, everyone lives according to interwoven strands of narrative.
“And yet,” teaches Adyashanti, “the truth is bigger than any concept or story.”
The Most Important Thing, Volume 1 presents a series of intimate, deep-dive talks devoted to the search for the ultimate reality of a self that exists beyond the bounds of storytelling.
In the first of two volumes of vivid anecdotes, incisive observations, and teaching stories, Adyashanti illustrates the felt experience of his teachings - those moments of grace in which every stone, tree, ray of light, and fraught silence reveal that none of us is alone and no one is ever truly isolated from the whole of existence.
These selections consider:
- Why a good question can be far more powerful than a concrete answer
- How grace can arrive both through struggle and as an unexpected gift
- Discovering the wisdom found in surprise, sadness, and challenging moments
- How the things you choose to serve shape your life path
- The moments of grace upon which all great religions pivot
- How revelation arises from darkness and silence
- The great vitality that underlies even the most difficult circumstances
- How surrendering the need for control opens you to a much wider experience of life
- Transcending the fear of ego annihilation
What is the story of your life? Is it happy or adventurous? Sad or lonely?
In The Most Important Thing, Volume 1, this esteemed teacher tells you how to look past your personal narratives, delve inward, and connect with the truths that fundamentally animate all of us.
Critic Reviews
“In The Most Important Thing, Adyashanti, long known as a kind teacher of embodied being, shares stories of his personal awakening as a way to surface insights that can help us discover the most important thing for ourselves. Central to his journey and ours is the question he offers as our constant guide: ‘How can I be a living expression of what I love?’ This book is a spiritual resource for the necessary arts of dedication and release, immersion and surrender, and the courage to be and love.” (Mark Nepo, author of More Together Than Alone and The Book of Awakening)
“Hopefully, you're interested in being happy in the deepest and most central way possible...happy independent of conditions. If so, this book will point you to the real deal.” (Shinzen Young, author of The Science of Enlightenment)
“While you read this book, you will want to underline wisdom gems on most every page...and you will want to keep pausing and listening to your own Being. Adyashanti offers the blessing of pointing us toward the reality awakening through us right in this moment.” (Tara Brach, PhD, author of Radical Acceptance and True Refuge)
“In The Most Important Thing, Adyashanti shares his remarkable gift of being able to put the most ineffable and precious truths into down-to-earth language. These short, heartfelt essays are just the right length to get wisdom bites, hints for awakening, and moments of grace when you need them. I hope you will enjoy this generous and important gift for our times." (Loch Kelly, author of Shift into Freedom)

Fantastic. You’ll listen to it more than once!
I have listened to this book about three times and I always keep getting new and wonderful insights each time. The narration is excellent because it comes from the author himself; you really feel his words, simplicity, depth and sincerity. His voice is so soothing and pleasant to hear. This is a great book, it isn’t some “woo woo” self help book and the author doesn’t tell you to just send positive thoughts out to the universe and everything is going to be perfect. Rather, this is a very real simple and touching collection of powerful words and thoughts that make sense and resonate completely. Good stuff. It’s not wishy washy or sappy. It’s just kind of amazing! Highly recommend. You don’t need to be some spiritual nut to reap the beauty of this book. Real life stuff here!

grace, awakening, presence of mind
As a person who has recently gone through an awakening, what I received from my experience and what Adayshanti talks about helped me understand more about why I felt so confused and even foreign to myself. The stories of what he has experienced from the people he had the privilege of knowing are quite beautiful and I believe it to be the basis of how his journey as a seeker began. I am grateful to be among those who also seek and have these great teachers to help us understand what it means to experience a life of gratitude filled with moments of Grace!

Listen lightly
Adya teaches in a way that speaks to the mind about itself, giving a layout of what one might experience during a spiritual journey. It's important to keep in mind that reality is real for everyone. All at the same time, consciousness is interacting with itself and playing around. Keep things light and let yourself speak through the teaching.

The most important topics of spiritual development
Adyashanti, a spiritual teacher who literally wakes you up from your ego centric identity, tackles spiritual topics that are not usually discussed in mainstream spiritual books. Each talk is complete in itself and answers one or more questions you have or will encounter in your spiritual journey. I loved the clarity with which Adyashanti conveys hard, murky and sometimes painful topics that are essential facets of spiritual wisdom.

Fear! Don’t feel so scared now :-)
Loved loved loved the explanation of fear and how to change our perception towards fear. Especially while on a spiritual path. I had been experiencing a lot of this over the years and until now, no one had laid it out in such an understandable way! I don’t understand why more spiritual teachers don’t explain all this on an intellectual level? So many times I nearly turned away from this path thinking I was losing my mind!!!! Thank you so much for yet another inspirational book!!! Feel so much more “normal” and at peace🙏 looking forward to the next read!
