About this listen

A 1920s Easter Murder Mystery in the depths of rural Yorkshire A scoundrel lies dying, he makes his confession; his sins were despicable, and he wants to atone for his wasted life. He bequeaths an invaluable gift to Monks Hood Abbey, an ancient monastery set in a lonely corner of the Yorkshire moors. But sin throws a long shadow and corruption crawls in its shade.

Strangers come forward and lay claim to the monks' inheritance. The Abbot calls on Major Heathcliff Lennox and ex-Chief Inspector Swift to ask for their help. They must go to Yorkshire to unravel the mayhem – but then there's mystery, and murder, and another adventure begins.

Major Heathcliff Lennox, ex-WW1 war pilot, six feet 3 inches, unruly dark blond hair, age around 30 - named after the hero of Wuthering Heights by his romantically minded mother - much to his great annoyance.

The Monks Hood Murders is the fifth book in the Lennox series.

The stories and characterisations are super.

The narration has improved significantly. There’s still some faux pas with ‘A’s on occasion - but entirely tolerable.

Good work.

If you have never heard him read before Sam Dewhurst-Phillips is one of the greats.
You will be famous one day Sam. Your voice is superb. You're pacing and understanding of the text second to none. You are the best narrator I have heard. I have listened to hundreds BBC Radio plays and crime mystery writers from Wilkie Collins and Edgar Allen Poe onwards. Read more please.

Best Narration Ever!

A lovely series. The characters are eccentrically written and the story lines well written

A good listen

Karen Menuhin...you have done it again...When I got the email about this book being available, I downloaded it straight away.

And, finished it in one go. I love to hear about the next Lennox/Swift adventures. Karen's writing is amazing and I get a tad lost in the voice of Lennox (Sam)...Can't wait for the next installment.

Another fantastic Lennox story

I really enjoyed the last few books but this one was rather twee the dialogue wasn’t as amusing and the characters seemed a bit silly.

A bit disappointing
