Story
In the lobby of a prestigious Wall Street investment firm, one man is dead and another seriously injured. The man accused of the crime is now a fugitive. When the Director of the FBI personally orders Special Agent Sean Kruger to New York City to find the fugitive, Kruger questions the reason. Told to shut up and do his job, he starts looking into the case. What he finds is troubling. Eyewitness accounts seem contrived with little variance between individual testimonies. The more he hears, the more he feels someone is manipulating the story.

Their loyalty was to their families, their friends, and their kings. You crossed these men at your peril. And once crossed, there was no crossing back. Excellent FBI series...
After listening to A Lone Wolf, the most recent novel by JC Fields, I knew I had to go back and listen to the Sean Kruger series. I purchased the three book set is excellent. After finishing I immediately purchased books 4 & 5. The books can each be listened to as stand alones but I personally enjoy continuity of relationships if it exists in a series. There are also changes to Kruger’s position in the FBI.
These are excellent plot driven procedurals with great characters that carry over from one book to the next.
The fifth book has a continuous storyline from book four. The story places Sean, his family and some very close friends in danger from a Russian banker. There is a plan to destabilize the American economy and Sean seems to keep spoiling their plans. Now they want him out of the way.
Paul J McSorley does a wonderful job narrating.
This entire series is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

1st class entertainment
The Money Trail: The Sean Kruger Series, Book 5. I've read or listened to all the series, and this is of the same high standard.
The author and narrator make a great team bringing an excellent book to life.
It has everything you can want in a book, some action, technical details, cunning, dogged investigator and his team, and bad guys both thugs and the corrupt people in positions of power.
Fast paced and gripping the end comes to soon!
Guess I'll just have to wait for the next investigation of Sean's team.
I was given a free copy of this audio book at my own request, and voluntarily leave this review.

Another great Kruger story
This book is great follow up to the cold trail. The search is on for criminals in government. Shawn Kruger and team hunt down a Russian connection to a murdered lawyer and journalist who knew a little too much. I love how protective Kruger and co become while searching for deadly criminals trying to change the way government operates. The fact that a president would be so involved with the FBI was a bit unlivable even if they were friends first. As always J.C. Fields delivers an exciting book that I couldn't stop listening to. I look forward to the next installment. I received this book for free for an honest review.

Awesome Listen!!!
The Money Trail by J.C. Fields is a great addition to the Sean Kruger series. I loved the twists in this book, and how the character of Sean Kruger has developed. The action in this book is very fast moving. Paul J. McSorley performs this book flawlessly. He adds the right expression and tension to his voice, and one can hear exactly whom is speaking. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.

Want to take a walk in the woods?
Two women were murdered in Washington D.C. as they sat, talking, on a park bench. One was a lawyer, recently dismissed from a top law firm, the other a journalist with the Washington Post. Were they just old friends chatting, or was information being passed? Because they had been killed with a nerve agent spray, a Russian nerve agent. F.B.I.special agent, Sean Kruger, is asked to investigate.
The Money Trail is a fascinating story of corruption in high places, of greed and the search for power, of foreign intervention and involvement, and of computer hacking and manipulstion. It has an all too possible feeling of plausibility, complex and fast moving, with a large cast of protagonists. Although few of the characters are fully fleshed out, there is sufficient characterisation to ensure the reader's empathy and the unfolding picture that results from the Kruger team's investigation grips attention throughout and is both contemporary and concerning. A great good read.
Narrator, Paul McSorley helps breath life into the numerous characters with his excellent individually differentiated voicings, and the text was read with clarity and good intonation. His brisk pace was well timed, leaving an impression of actual reporting. Altogrther, a fine performance.
This was an enjoyable, complex and fascinating book. My thanks to the rights holder who, at my request, freely gifted me with a complimentary copy, via Audiobook Boom.
