The Thieves Guild is renowned for their ability to steal anything.

Its elite members have robbed nobles of wealth, reputation, and even their honor. The Guildmaster rules them with brutality and fear, yet his name and past are a mystery. From the depths of the Evermist swamp he seeks a master thief, one who can help him reclaim his lost power.

Young and brash, Jack Myst has drawn the Guildmaster's attention. His feats mark his potential, but his audacity and cunning make him dangerous. After years of preparation an invitation from the guild is exactly what he desires. When he gets it his hunt begins, and there is nothing he cannot steal.

MC is a Mary Sue

No social skill one second and then the epic bard god the next. He does not understand friendship and everyone else says sorry for everything, even when he was wrong. He flips out when people treat him remotely like he treats everyone else. He lives by the idea that if he succeeds he is morally correct in all things.

It's worth buying for teens

I liked it overall but there were a few things that bugged me. I feel it could have gone through one more screening. There where holes are left in the story. Such as (trying for no spoilers here) when S threw a knife at J and L jumped in. What, S just stood back to give them a moment? And there were several times S could have killed J but chose to "have the people do it for him". A bit weak considering all the trouble he's caused. The love story lacked chemistry and wasn't clear. The narrator was great. He did pronounce things funny, maybe because it's a different world? Mostly changing vowels sounds, like saying gee-ser for geyser. Then there's the issue I'm sure the author was waiting for. The not so subtle jab at religion. I don't pretend all authors are religious, to each his own, but it can make people defensive when you poke fun at them in any fashion. I'm not saying the story line should have been changed or anything, but a few changes in dialogue would help.

Worst thief ever

I keep wondering why on earth Jack is considered a master thief when he hasn't completed a single heist without being caught. Maybe he actually succeeds in stealing something without detection before the trilogy is over...? Jack IS, however, the Master Smirker. This is definitely his favorite facial expression - although "peaking his eyebrows" comes in second. Sometimes he smirks AND peaks his eyebrows, usually at the most annoyingly inappropriate places in the story. Seriously, could the author (and editor) not substitute some other descriptor from time to time? The compositional and plot weaknesses continue to jar me out of the story long enough to wonder why 1) professional thieves think Jack is successful; 2) Jack has any friends (he's a jerk, really, and his character is about as deep as a mud puddle); and 3) I'm finishing the trilogy at all. Hm. It's probably because of Derek Perkins, one of my favorite voice actors, although perhaps not even his reading can save this one.

the first book was good.

this series started strong. but it fell into to many cliche's after book 1. it became too predictable. at no point can you believe that any of the characters are in any peril. or after going to fail at anything

Better than Luminea

Wow, this book really opens up the history of Jack and made it better than Luminea. The depth of Jack and friends helps bring appreciation for him in the other stories. Still love howt the author ties in the other book with rock trolls. Great series.

Twists n Turns-Loved It

Truly enjoyed this trilogy. The narrator is a recent favorite and has very enjoyable character voices as well as distinguishable. The story itself built into the most intriguing twists & turns I’ve heard in a series in a very long time. I hope Ben writes more about Jack Mist.

Really enjoyed it

I love getting 3 books for 1 credit. This was excellent. loved Jack and hope to see him again soon. The ending left a possibility of that. Narration was excellent as well. Definitely a series I would listen to again.

Oh my word!

Well I didn’t see that coming! This was my 1st Audible book and I couldn’t have picked a better one. Great having all 3 books for the one credit and wish more authors did the same. I have listened to this multiple times and if you haven’t already guessed LOVED the twist !! Have a go, lots of hours for a credit. Bound not to be everyone’s favourite, there are a lot of critics on this site who don’t appear to like ANY books. Still it’s your opinion that matters 🙂🤔

is it anything new in the grand scheme of things, no not really but it does deliver an entertaining listen and I found the character bonds which formed throughout engaging.

Loved it. Great from start to finish.

I absolutely loved this audiobook. I purchased it as I like the narrator from another set of audios and he did not disappoint. Great story with many twists and turns. Highly recommend. .
