Publisher's Summary

Author's note: The following story takes place in the same world as my novel Blood Song, the first volume in the Raven's Shadow trilogy. I wrote it because I wanted to more fully explore characters who appear in Blood Song and the sequels Tower Lord and Queen of Fire. Readers familiar with my work are sure to recognize a certain pale-eyed, raspy-voiced Sword Master of the Sixth Order, and those curious as to the origins of the Tower Lord of the Southern Shore will find answers here. The tale takes place at the midpoint of the timeline described in Blood Song, a time when King Janus, with typical ruthlessness, is in the process of further consolidating his grip on the Unified Realm.

Everything but the price

loved story, needs price cut in half snd that would still be on the high side even if a hardbacked novella paying royalties for song lyrics in every chapter!

Do not recommend, adds nothing to the story

Very short story about an event of little to no consequence in the greater story.

Good short story

It takes a few minutes to get up to speed but once you do it is a good short story. The main character is well developed while filling in some gaps found in the Blood Song through a secondary character and corresponding events.

Phenomenal narration

Steven Brand's narration once again makes him my favorite narrator! Simply put, he has the perfect voice for this genre of literature.

Are you series??

In what actual way is this a novella from the ravens shadow series?? It should have been called a random story that happens to some guy, on one of the islands that appears in the ravens shadow series - at some point during the events in the ravens shadow series... and ps it’s about 15 mins long - you won’t be said about that part, it’s a total waste

To expensive for 1.5 hrs

A good inbetween filler but its too expensive for just one and a half hours of listening. The series is great so far.

Very good for as short as it s

Not worth the $9 price tag, but still a great short story. The narrative that has been created, first with "The Blood Song" and then with this book is very well executed once you get used to the readers gravelly voice.

Not worth the cost.

I love the series but this is not worth a credit. Too expensive doesn't follow

Hard to get into.

I liked Anthony Ryan's other books but I've tried to listen to this book 2 or 3 times and can't get through it. Maybe it's the narrator. But I also think it's the story: politics and divided loyalties don't excite me.

A good story, but to short to pay a credit for.

This was a good story; well worth a listen. But it should not have been released on its own. it's not worth a credit.
