Story
Western folklore and mythology are rife with brilliantly creative, fulfilled, feisty, and furious role models for aging women, despite our culture's focus on youthfulness. In her exciting new book, mythologist and psychologist Sharon Blackie explores these archetypes, presenting them in a way sure to appeal to contemporary women. Drawing inspiration from these examples, women can reclaim midlife as a liberating, alchemical moment rich with possibility and their elder years as a path to dynamic power.

Feel like you don’t belong? You’re not alone. The world has never been more connected, yet people are lonelier than ever. Whether we feel unworthy, alienated, or anxious about our place in the world, the absence of belonging is the great silent wound of our times. Most people think of belonging as a mythical place, and they spend a lifetime searching for it in vain. But what if belonging isn’t a place at all? What if it’s a skill that has been lost or forgotten? With her signature depth and eloquence, Toko-pa maps a path to belonging from the inside out.

Story
Enchantment. By Dr. Sharon Blackie’s definition, a vivid sense of belongingness to a rich and many-layered world, a profound and whole-hearted participation in the adventure of life. Enchantment is a natural, spontaneous human tendency - one we possess as children, but lose, through social and cultural pressures, as we grow older. It is an attitude of mind which can be cultivated: the enchanted life is possible for anyone. It is intuitive, embraces wonder, and fully engages the mythic imagination - but it is also deeply embodied in ecology, grounded in place and community.

Publisher's Summary
The Late Bloomer is the fourth volume of the Dangerous Old Woman Series with Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes.
"What makes talent bloom? Ask what makes a tree blossom. They are the same. It is not unfathomable. It only takes concentration. Concentration of energies is what makes a tree flower. Not bigger, not faster, not taking up more space. Rather, less space. Density. Pressure in hard places. Often, in the dark. Relentlessly. Freely. For as long as it takes. Hold faith, a gestation can go long and for good reason, and nothing much shows above ground. But then, one day..." - Clarissa Pinkola Estes, PhD
Are you waiting for New Life, for your talents to bloom? With The Late Bloomer, Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes presents volume four of her masterwork on the Wise Woman archetype, bringing you six sessions of origial tales, stories from her ethnic families, poems, blessings, and psychological commentary exploring the cycles of "burgeoning, blooming New Life."

My first book I ever purchased and read was Clarissas first book, Women who dance with Wolves. It was spirit evoking and life changing.

I got so much out of this book, I will be getting all the audio books I can. Truly inspiring. Truly a must read for any woman or man , girl or boy. The stories are profound and liberating . Thankyou Clarissa with love.

Balm for the soul
Clarissa has a soothing voice, fitting for the wisdom she speaks. Her wisdom is a deep understanding of the human condition, folklore, and in this book she demonstrates her understanding of individuals who, through one circumstance or another, are taking ‘the zig-zag path’ to the destined outworking of their purpose and gift.
Would recommend this book to anyone who has an inkling of themselves as a late bloomer... perhaps you’ve achieved something of your calling but don’t feel it matches your ambitions. Perhaps there’s a current shift or block in your path (for me, 3yrs severe illness) - Clarissa’s insight, perception and tenderness will help to resolve any despair over ‘lost time’ or ‘if I haven’t achieved it by now I can’t/won’t’ type thinking. The book speaks to the many who find their calling later once they’ve come to know themselves more deeply, or many who grow the capabilities through their life/later in life to let go of things holding them back & establish their own unique way.

This woman is the hero of our gender for this lifetime
I am so in love with Clarissa’s words and stories. Her lifetime of learning, seeking, understanding, wrapping and unravelling of meaning, humanness, mystique and art is all shared in her books of magic.
Clarissa’s voice reading her own stories is the best treasure of all! Such medicine.
These books are the gifts I give to myself, and I just can’t get enough of them.
Give them to every girl and woman.
Clarissa, 💜🩵✨ you are all magic and spirit. I adore you. 🙏
