Publisher's Summary

Kate Jones and Mandy Hose have experienced the highs and lows of parenting - and they wouldn't change a thing. The pair met a decade ago and bonded over their premature twins with additional needs and their remarkable capacity for love, laughter and swearing like a trooper. As the mothers grew closer, however, they confided that they felt 'on-the-floor lonely' sometimes because nobody was talking about what it was like for families like theirs. It was time to give their community a voice.

So began the Too Peas in a Podcast, a weekly conversation in which they discuss the surprises, the challenges and the joys of parenting twins with additional needs. It was meant to support other multiple-birth mums and mums of kids with disabilities, so they were shocked to discover therapists, doctors, nurses, teachers, even people without kids were also listening.

Now, Kate and Mandy are sharing their story, delving deeper into the issues they care about and offering reassurance for those navigating a child's disability. They speak candidly about what it's like to receive the initial diagnosis, how they perceive their children's lives have been impacted by their additional needs, how their own lives have changed, and those of their family and friends. Above all they convey their immense love for their children and the happiness they have brought into their lives.

With their signature empathy, honesty and compassion, the Too Peas invite you into their world to laugh, cry and make a difference.

Beautifully honest

Two intelligent, fierce mothers this really is a story of how to celebrate the messy joys of life, but the message is clear - we need to show empathy and kindness to everyone we meet and embrace the diversity of our community. Thanks for sharing your lives with us Kate and Mandy - you make the world a better place.

Outstanding

Loved this book along with the podcast. A refreshing look at the life of Mandy and Kate and their beautiful families with additional needs. After originally finding their podcast, I felt seen and not alone. This book is all of that and more. A great listen x

Mandatory reading for the whole world

Mandy & Kate - thank you for this book.

I was so excited, that I preordered both the printed book (love the pea green inside cover) & then the Audible version too. I already knew you were great story tellers from the podcast, but gosh - you are thoroughly engaging authors too! I couldn’t put the book down. Loved it. Laugher, tears and boy oh boy - talk about making a difference! All, absolutely all the feels!
xx love ‘speed pipe’ pea xx

Laugh, Difference, Cry

All the feels as always from my ‘friends’ Mandy & Kate.
I could NOT stop listening & finished the book in one weekend. Apologies to my family who tried to talk to me but were waved away, as I pointed to my ears, shook my head & mouthed ‘sorry can’t hear you’.
Well done to you both! What an amazing achievement to add to all your other achievements. I hope you are both very proud of yourselves.
Your voices & the open-hearted way you share your experiences, have profoundly changed me in ways that I cannot even explain.
Thank you 🙏

Epic!

What an incredible book. Mandy and Kate explore the realities of raising children with disabilities in a raw yet respectable way. This book makes those raising children with a disability feel seen, loved and heard.
This book is also a great tool for those wishing to have a deeper understanding into the lives of families who live with a disability.
