Story
How is it possible for us not to know who we are? If we are not ourselves, who are we? The truth is, we can become many things - a modified version of our true selves, a manifestation of our wounds, a projection of who others want us to be, or, in extreme circumstances, a stranger. In order to explain how this occurs, existential psychotherapist Sara Kuburic will introduce the listener to the concept of self-loss and explore how it manifests physically, emotionally, relationally and spiritually.

As the result of clear vision, big thinking, hard work, direct communication, resilient problem-solving, open-minded curiosity, and a commitment to giving back. We can all improve at improving. And when opportunity doesn't knock, there are ways to build a door.

Money - investing, personal finance, and business decisions - is typically taught as a math-based field, where data and formulas tell us exactly what to do. But in the real world people don’t make financial decisions on a spreadsheet. They make them at the dinner table, or in a meeting room, where personal history, your own unique view of the world, ego, pride, marketing, and odd incentives are scrambled together. In The Psychology of Money, award-winning author Morgan Housel shares 19 short stories exploring the strange ways people think about money.

For all its successes, mainstream medicine has failed to make much progress against the diseases of ageing that kill most people: heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer's disease, and type 2 diabetes. Too often, it intervenes with treatments too late, prolonging lifespan at the expense of quality of life. Dr Peter Attia, the world's top longevity expert who is featured on Chris Hemsworth's National Geographic documentary Limitless, believes we must replace this outdated framework with a personalised, proactive strategy for longevity.

Story
Hugh van Cuylenburg was a primary school teacher volunteering in northern India when he had a life-changing realisation: despite the underprivileged community the children were from, they were remarkably positive. By contrast, back in Australia Hugh knew that all too many children struggled with depression, social anxieties and mental illness. His own little sister had been ravaged by anorexia nervosa. How was it that young people he knew at home, who had food, shelter, friends and a loving family, struggled with their mental health, while these kids seemed so contented and resilient?

Difficult people take over our lives. They live rent-free in our heads. We steel ourselves before we meet them. We can't relax when we are with them. We ruminate on their behaviour after they've gone. They harvest our empathy and operate without regard for our feelings. In Difficult People, Dr Rebecca Ray shows us how to recognise (and understand) difficult people and provides us with practical strategies for self-preservation. From learning when to say no, limiting contact, managing our reactions, and knowing when to walk away for good.

Beautiful Book
- By Margot on 01-11-2023
Publisher's Summary
Back Yourself. Believe. Achieve.
Imposter Syndrome doesn’t just affect middle-aged suits in big board rooms. The typical thoughts, feelings and behaviours that are part of the imposter experience - things like overwork, perfectionism and procrastination, hiding out, playing small and holding back – are common for so many of us.
This is not just a different name for self-doubt. It is pervasive and goes directly to your sense of self-worth and belonging. You don’t need a confidence hack. You need to go to the root cause of your feelings of unworthiness and learn to trust that you are enough.
Cultivating genuine self-belief and self-trust, knowing you deserve to be in any room regardless of who you are and where you come from, fully accepting your imperfect self, letting go of all the tricks you use to try to convince people you’re enough - the perfectionism, people pleasing and pretending - this is the key to happiness and personal success.
Psychologist Cassandra Dunn, creator of the popular Crappy to Happy podcast, has created a program with five clear steps – Recognise, Regulate, Reframe, Remember, Respond – so you can understand that you’re not a fraud. You do belong. You deserve success.

Great tools to reflect on- easy to understand and practice in real life situations.
I liked the easy to understand information given, I understood the themes playing out in my life that hold me back, and how I can recognise them and adapt my thinking to move forward to making changes for the better.
I liked that there was just good information, and no need for a back story or case study, who wants to hear another case study as an example to get the point across! It was just honest insight and steps to make lasting change.

Nothing new!
The information used on this book is not at all useful. For example, the author used the example where a boss dismisses your contribution and the author associated the boss's action "Perhaps the boss has some personal issues" this cliché example is not useful. Did the boss think for a minute the contributor was going through domestic violence at home? This cliché mental health useful example helps no one!!! We don't all walk around with a sign saying "Be careful when talking to me as I have had a bad day!" What happened CBT? This book is not worth the read!!!
