Returned unfinished, just terrible
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Nothing. The book is space fantasy, not the SF political thriller the blurb presents it as.
Would you ever listen to anything by Allan Cole and Nick Perumov again?
Never, ever, until the end of time would I make this mistake again.
What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?
The performance was fine but as they say "you can't polish a **** "
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Hate Parallax?
I'd scrap the entire project.
I'd give the two of them a spanking and send them to bed without any dinner time make them think about what they had done.
Any additional comments?
How does this have a 5 star rating whe there is only one review rating it 1 star?
I smell "Rooskie" hacking, lol.
If only I had scrolled down to read that review, but the blurb was so tantalizing I skipped my normal due diligence.

The past set in the future and everything is magic
What disappointed you about The Hate Parallax?
"What if the Cold War never ended -- but continued for a thousand years? " is the tag line for the book. While is does involve the Russian and Americas, it is not about the cold war, it is about magic!I was hoping for an alternative-history / sci-fi, but gone a book about terrifying all powerful magical forces that could destroy the universe but for some reason can do it right now because ... magic word, magic word, science sounding word, etc, etc.The dialog is painfully poor 1950s style cold war insults mixed randomly assembled super-natural creatures and spells. It feels like a poor sci-fi book that someone did a find-and-replace for technical words and replaced them with magical words.
Would you ever listen to anything by Allan Cole and Nick Perumov again?
No!
What aspect of John Hough’s performance might you have changed?
The narrator was ok. The dialog was the problem.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Hate Parallax?
I wouldn't pretend that it is about the cold-war.
