Not only is the audiobook phenomenally narrated, the story and world we are introduced to is lush and addictive, cannot wait for the next book to be released

I enjoyed this book. I liked that it was quite dark and morbid at times. I am enjoying friendships/ romances that are forming. I am looking forward to learning more as the story continues.

Okay that ending absolutely stunned me. I binged this audiobook on my drives to work and I was impressed.

Morally Grey Princes, Magic, badass Guards. I fell in love with each of the characters and their personalities.
Personally, I enjoyed the conflict between the characters as it helped give them some depth.
The world building got better as the book went on but It did still seem a little clunky in places like the author was just throwing description at the reader.

But overall, this was a great read, and I am looking forward to the next book!

This book pulled me in from the first page and kept me until the very last. Loved the world building and the angst. I can't wait to see what happens next.

The concept is cool but its let down by badly written characters and very slow plot progression. You’ll work out plot points hundreds of pages before the characters figure it out, and have to wait for them to catch up. The characters are very 2D with very little progression. We’re told they love someone, but there aren’t really scenes that show that chemistry to justify why, they trust moustache twiddling villains, get upset when someone who they had tea with once betrays them. The main love interest behaves like a sulky teenager. Eeep. If you want a well written version of this story, take a look at Mask of Mirrors by M A Carrick.
