About this listen
Surviving the first days of the apocalypse, William is a wreck and hiding in an attic. The daily acid storms, floating elementals, and bizarre mutated animals are the least of his problems. The reality-warping apocalypse has rules and a system much like those in video games. To survive, he must learn how the new uncooperative system works, choose a class without any real knowledge of what it does and create a place safe from the spawning horrors.
For William, staying alive isn’t enough. He will need to bring other survivors together and build a fortification large enough for all of them if he ever wants to strike back at the things that took everyone he loved. That is if he can ever gain control over himself and finally get any answers to what has happened.

Main character was likeable, with a few flaws - but doesn't everyone. Narrator was good.
Looking forward to another book in the series with more development of side characters.
interesting and enjoyable

The MC….. quite preachy and know it all, and it seems the author is going the way of the systems apocalypse - an over the top, occasional edge lord and sometimes screaming/crying anger twit. Howling and cursing and sweating that he will get strong enough to make the ‘system’ and who ever made it pay dearly.
The over the top emotional outrage and breakdown that pops up occasionally I can understand, but when he does not even know where to direct it makes it eye rolling to me, like cursing the sky with physical violence.
The MC does have a serious hero complex and ‘I’m a good guy who is the one who is always right’ vibe due to the author.
All in all, decent story, the only thing you might not like is the kind of conceited wank of a MC, but even then I can still mostly enjoy the story, even with it going melodramatic randomly.
You will either love it or be occasionally annoyed
