While I enjoyed 'The Flow Factor' by Christy Whitman, the immediate application of her sage advice resulted in astonishing results! Sometimes the best reviews come from lived experience, and mine involves a messy acai bowl, a light-blue jumper, and a nearly-missed dinner cruise on our anniversary.

My partner and I had planned a beautiful night: a cabin escape at Springbrook and a SeaWorld dinner cruise on the Nerang River in Queensland, Australia. Simple, right? That was before the “bright idea” to squeeze in acai bowls before boarding. Forty minutes of wrong turns, bowls served in dine-in dishes instead of takeaway, a spill that decorated my jumper in purple, and rising stress levels later… it was clear this anniversary could have sunk fast.

And yet, it didn’t.

What turned it around was the very teaching Christy Whitman shares in her book The Flow Factor: go with the flow, embrace contrast, and trust that things will line up. In the middle of the chaos, we took a breath, regrouped, and chose calm instead of frustration. Sure enough, the universe responded: we snagged the very last parking spot at the cruise terminal, 20 metres from the door. The rest of the night unfolded perfectly. Delicious food, music, moonlight, and all the romance we had hoped for.

That’s the magic of The Flow Factor. It’s not just theory, it’s practical, it’s simple, and it shows up in real-life moments when you need it most. Whitman’s writing is easy to listen to and understand, but the real delight is in applying the tools she teaches. Suddenly, life becomes a little less about stress and a lot more about flow.

If you’ve ever let a small mishap hijack your day (or your anniversary), this book is for you. It’s a reminder that contrast is part of the journey, and how we respond determines whether the story ends in disaster or delight.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Five stars from me—acai stains and all.
